Anybody taking Fosamax who has IBS? I was just diagnosed with IBS. I've been taking Fosamax for a couple of years with no problems but I was also in remission with the IBS. Now it's kicked up again and I'm afraid to take my Fosamax for fear it will upset my digestive tract and exacerbate my IBS. Anybody else in this situation? Have you found a way to handle Fosamax or have you come up with an alternative for your osteoporosis? Thanks, ptkitty

I also took Foxomax and have had IBS for years. The foxomax did little to nothing to improve my scans. I am no longer taking it. I did learn recently that if you have IBS, you may not get the full benefit from Fosomax. It is a very sensitive G.I. drug. I am probably going to start an I.V. drug soon due to this, I'll let you know what drug but I know it is some kind of a biphosponate. Good luck!!!

Thanks Thinbones. I think I'll ask my doctor to measure my bone density again... it's been awhile and see if the fosamax has been helping me or not. I'm still concerned that taking it might kick up my IBS but it seems it didn't for you. Glad to hear that. >^..^<
