My name is Angie, I'm 19 years old. I am seven months pregnant and need advise on a topic. There have been several times where all of a sudden I will feel really dizzy, then that leads to me blacking out and waking up covered in sweat and with a pounding headache that lasts the rest of the day. I have asked my doctor about this several times and he says nothing is wrong, but I just can't see how all of that can just come from horomones. They have done the gluclose testing and all of that fun stuff to make sure I don't have diabetes or anything like that. At first I thought it was dehydration, because I have heard that could have the same effects, but I drink plenty of water. lately when I feel one of these 'spells' coming on I drink a lot of water and just hope it goes away, but it doesn't. They are progressively getting worse and there is a shorter amount of warning time for me. Last week I could feel them coming on ten minutes before they hit, today it wasn't even five! It scares me when I get them because I feel a shortness of breath and total loss of control in my body. This is what all happens in order of symptoms: dizziness, faintness, snowy vision that leads to me completely blacking out. Not for more than five minutes ever. When I come around I am covered in sweat, and have severe pressure headache around my temples that lasts from that point on. I know my horomones are raging but I have never heard of anything like that durning a pregnancy before. I'm not even sure if it has anything to do with that. Please give me some advise. My doctors don't see anything wrong, should they be looking past the pregnancy?

It Sounds Like You Could Be Having Some Form Of Anxiety. When I Was In The Last 3 Months Of My Pregnancy, I Had Heart Palpitations, Light Headedness, Dizzy, Feeling Out Of Controll Of My Body. These Episodes Would Hit Me Out Of No Where. You Dont Have To Have Heart Palpitations When You Have An Anxiety Attack. Anxiety Can Do Some Weird Things Especially When You Are Pregnant. You Have All These Hormones Going Wild. After I Had My Baby, It Gradually Calmed Down. I Still Get Anxiety/panic Attacks But It Ussually Only Hits Me If I Take Something That Stimulates My Body Like Nasal Decongestants. Those Are No No's For Me. They Will Send Me Into A Panic. It Should Get Better Once You Have The Baby.give It Some Time. Ask Your Doctor If It Could Be Anxiety. ONE MORE THING HOW IS YOUR BLOOD PREESURE WHEN THEY CHECK IT.

Doesn't sound like anxiety to me. Anxiety shouldn't cause blacking out.

They checked your blood pressure, I assume?

The pounding headache could be a sign of preeclampsia. Have your blood pressure checked. Good luck to you.

I would demand your Dr checks into this, you could easily be in a situation where blacking out would/could be dangerous, such as driving, or walking down stairs etc. Demand he checks into it or find someone who will. Goodluck.

Ks mommy is right about the urgency in finding out the cause as you very well could be driving or walking down the stairs or many other situations where blacking out could cause you great injury. You are also right in the thinking that this could be totally unrelated to your pregnancy.people tend to get very tunnel visioned when they have a certain disorder or condition and have strange symptoms, and tend to attribute anything to their current condition when it could be caused by something totally unrelated. You know, even though you have been tested for diabetes it does not mean that you might not be suffering from sudden drops in blood sugar.I get intermittant boughts of hypoglycemia and I am not diabetic.i start to feel a little wierd and then shaky, and start to feel a little confused, and then start sweating like a pig.I know as soon as I start having 'that" feeling, I need sugar.try keeping some orange juice around and when you feel one of these episodes start to come on,drink a great big glass of the oj,and then lie down for about fifteen minutes.if you feel the symptoms start to subside and feel pretty okay after the fifteen minutes is up, chances are that you are just suffering from drops in your blood sugar.if this does not relieve your symptoms, you definitely need to see a neurologist for a work up.try the oj thing at the next opportunity and go from there.if your doc is not taking this seriously call him on it.Tell him you are having very real symptoms that could possibly cause you great harm if they happen at the wrong time.tell him if he will not take this seriously, maybe it is time to find a new doc.If he does not change his additude, follow up, and find a doc who actually cares about his patients. This is rediculous and you do not have to take it.Keep us posted, and good luck,Marcia

Gigi,

Hi:) Have you been checked yet for anemia? My daughter was diagnosed with this a few months ago. She's not pregnant, but she would get the dizzy spells and seeing black dots, etc. She passed out once and it was very scary for her. Also, I had anemia when I was pregnant and I had the same symptoms. Although I never passed out because they caught it soon enough and out me on iron, but I would get the same things as you. I would get flushed, see black dots and feel real dizzy. I couldn't go out in the sun much either because that seemed to make it worse. Just something you may want to get checked. I hope you feel better soon:)

I have had my blood pressure checked and everything is normal. I don't think it is anxiety. I'm not sure though. It happens all the time. Even if I'm sitting at home by myself. I have no idea what it could be. After my episode yesterday I have felt light-headed ever since. It usually goes away afterwards. I asked my doctor again and he still said nothing. Maybe it's not pregnency related? I've noticed that to bright of lighting can make me dizzy and feel like I'm going to slip out of it again. Could it have anything to do with my vision?

Have you had an MRI or anything?

When I was pregnant my heart would beat so fast I thought I was going to die.
I got very dizzy and all but the worst was, and this is so wierd, when I looked at someone I could only see one eye! It was like half their face was missing. I also had a feeling of being hit in the head and seeing black. I never actually passed out though. I would have a headache and be very tired the rest of the day.
The only thing I can attribute it to is the baby laying on a nerve and making me go haywire. Its very very scary and I wish you luck. Don't drive and try to relax (i know thats hard to do). My baby is now 8 years old and I haven't had an episode like that since. So may it give you peace that this will pass.

Honestly, to me it sounds like anxiety. I am on meds for anxiety, but today all of the sudden I was sitting in class, couldn't breathe, felt dizzy, couldn't concentrate.. and the next thing I knew I passed out!
