Hi, I was hoping everyone would post their favorite shampoo's? And if you could tell me why. the reason I ask is because I am looking for a new shampoo.
right now I am using Suave shampoo, but I think it is drying my over 30 hair out. Can you recommend any, thanks.

I love Pantene. I tried a lot of shampoos but I always go back to it. The thing I dont like about Pantene is the smell.
I love Herbal Essences for the perfume, i love it only for that (their conditioner is terrble)but I live in Argentina and they discontinued it here.
I accept Shampoo donations. :D

I've used Nicky Clarke's Hairomatherapy shampoo and conditioner for ages, it de-frizzes my hair and smells absolutly gorgeous.

my favorite shampoo is orignal prell, followed closely by Kiehl's Lecithin Conditioning Shampoo..... but if i were you, i would look more into a moisturizing conditioner.

I had a hairdresser tell me a few years ago that the worst shampoos for your hair are Suave, Prell, and White Rain. I use BED HEAD by Tigi, my favorite is the Self Absorbed. Leaves your hair really soft and it smells great.

Bumble and bumble gentle shampoo. It is expensive but it will be the nicest shampoo you will ever use. It leaves my hair healthy, silky, and you don't even need a conditioner.

Bath & Body Works Shampoo and Conditioner. I love it!!!!

I recently switched to neutragena clean for colour shampoo and conditioner, but I didn't like it, so now I'm back to the good old loreal kids. The packaging's really funky, it's cheap, they smell lovely and fruity and yummy, and the conditioner's FAB! You only need a tiny bit and it makes your hair all soft. Prob not good for fine hair though, coz the shampoo also has a conditioning anti-tangle formula, apparently, so if your hair's fine u prob only need the shampoo.

Rusk Smooth Shampoo and Calm Conditioner are my favorites. My hair's impossible without these two products (long, fine hair, tons of it, with just enough wave to make it frizzy in hot weather)

I just switched over to Healthy Sexy Hair, I bought their soymilk shampoo and it leaves your hair silky soft, even without conditioner, and strong, too. Smells like Peach Schnapps. LOL!

Hey Brandons Mom,
I am from Pa and we have Phillip Pelusi hair styling here. Don't know if you have it in Ohio. Although their products (and services for that matter!!) are expensive, it is well worth it. They have a full line of shampoos to suit every hair type and all of them do exactly what they claim, and they smell wonderful (kinda like Cliniques Wrappings). So if you have a Phillip Pelusi by you and you have the funds to check it out, I highly recommend it.

Ilove the smell of Clairol Herbal Essence, yum. I also use Pert 2-in-1 for permed, damaged hair as it seems to give a softer feel to my hair as it is dry and frizzy.

I just bought Kiehl's herbal shampoo and I *LOVE* it! It smells really nice and gets my hair sqeaky clean. And I think it's got protein in it to help strengthen/moisturize your hair? Anyways, it's great!

My favorite would have to be Neutragena shampoo and Neutragena 5 second daily conditioner treatment. My hair was dry and breaking off from swimming and that has worked well so far. Also my friend says BiOxen shampoo and conditioner works well if you want your hair to grow and get thicker. She swears by that stuff. I think you can only get it in a Super Walmart Beauty Salon.

My all time favorite hair product was the "old" Vidal Sassoon. Am very very upset they changed their product as the old product was THE BEST. I used to go to the hair dresser and they could not believe I was using and OTC product on my hair. They always commented me. When I would go out people always commented me on my perfume, saying how great it was. I am allergic to perfume so that is definitely not what I was wearing, IT WAS MY VS HAIRSPRAY. Everyone I ever hung out with would run out the next day and buy the hairspray, thats how great it was. It was the formesilk one. I did email VS asking them to go back but of course they can't do that for one customer. HEHE. But I really do miss it.

BTW (now my hair is falling out so I guess I won't be able to use it anyway).

You asked for an opinion? Right? Not a complete story. hehe sorry but I really miss it.

Hi Brandon's mom,
I'm with momoftwo1128...I LOVED the "old" VS line...especially the 2n1. If you're into salon products, I recommend Redken's "Active Express" line in the pale green bottle. The conditioner "split second" is amazing. If you rather stick with drugstore products, then I recommend Vidal Sasoons new line. I find the shampoo and conditioner designed for dry, damaged hair is really nice and leaves your hair silky soft...not heavy.
Another salon product that's really great is "Paul Brown"...not sure if you have that line in the states, but's it's great. It was the only thing that worked before, during and after my pregnancy, cause we all know what that can do to ones hair!!!

I am only 35 years...and my hair had started thinning. I learned that most of the shampoos contain chemicals that are known to cause baldness....I now use Folligen shampoo and conditioner...a bit pricey but...my hair isn't dry any more and is not falling out anymore!!!!!! I buy it online at http://stores.andale.com/select is the best deal but you can read more about the products at www.folligen.com. (http://www.folligen.com.) GOOD LUCK...

Another vote for Paul Mitchell Awapuhi shampoo.....good for the entire family. Smells good, works good. I've used it for years, I get away from it for a while, then when I go back, don't know why I ever left..It's an old standard around here that works.

This reply is to Brandy 2. I am having a problem where my hair is falling out and the dr thinks its from my thyroid. I am having a hard time with my scalp and my hair is very very brittle, like it was burnt by something. I had very nice hair but am wondering if it very well could be the shampoos and such. I was thinking to order the shampoo/conditioner you recommended but not sure if this would help my condition if it is for sure my thyroid. Do you think it may help. I know you probably aren't a doctor but I was wondering how bad was your hair thinning? I am very interested in ordering if it could help. I don't mind to spend the money if it works but I do not like to waste money.

Thanks for your help.

My hair was thinning quite badly..even my attempts to style around the thiness were pretty ill fated. I was loosing so many hairs every day...it seemed like hand fulls of hair..very dry, brittle. However, my hair loss was not caused by any medical condition, just by the stupid detergents and even though I thoroughly rinsed all shampoo out. I did go through several test...some thought it could be hormonal, thyroid...everything tested negative.

I would recommend that you go to the site and send them an email and ask them specifically...otherwise, I would seriously recommend avoid specific detergents in your shampoo. Mainly ammonium lauryl sulfate and sodium lauryl sulfate, those are the culprits!

I do so wish you luck....Hope this helps

My favorite shampoo is Bio hydrating by Bath and Body works. I color my hair every 4-6 weeks and it really keeps it soft and shiny. B&B has a wide variety of hair products but I vote for the Bio line... good luck... http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/blob_fire.gif

Hi! I like Thermasilk a lot! My hair was just below my waistline about 8 months ago when I had a haircut...I dried my hair with a hairdryer almost everyday and the hairdresser was amazed when I told her that because my hair was healthy from root to tip! Well, it's grown back to my waistline and it looks great! I still use a hairdryer or curling iron almost everyday! What I am saying is that before Thermasilk my hair would have split ends and break off...so I guess I will use this shampoo and conditioner as long as they make it! :)

I used to love the old Vidal Sassoon as well.

Now I like Bed Head, shampoo and conditioner. Bed Head volumizer in the purple bottle is the best miracle worker yet for limp hair in high humidity environments. I LOVE that stuff. You put it on damp hair after shampooing. Just a small portion on your hands rub them together and spread over your hair. Do another round and work the roots. Bed Head Conditioner in the tube is a bit pricey but excellent for maintenance about every two weeks. Leave it on for about 5 min. then rinse off. Your hair will be so soft you won't believe it.

Biolage's "hydrating" shampoo and "conditioning balm" is very good. However, their "Fortifying" Shampoo and Conditioner was absolutely awful. It completely dried out my hair and made it look and feel like straw.
I have also been using Back to Basics Green Tea Normalizing shampoo which is great. So is Nexxus Nutrient shampoo.
Joico's K-Pak deep conditioner is very good and will help calm frizzy hair. I usually use it at night because it smoothes down the roots making my hair look flat. Its something you can use while you're soaking in a bath or something-because you need to leave it on for five minutes or more.

Personally, I love the new Dove shampoo line. Makes my hair feel really soft and works throughout the day...meaning that my hair doesn't get "as" oily during the day. But, that's my opinion :) I HATE the Pantene shampoos. They make my hair terribly oily.

I have a hair dresser that says your hair is DEAD so it does not matter what you clean it with basically nothing major will happen your just cleaning dirt and oil out,Also good housekeeping did tests on shampoos and suave did the same and even sometimes better than the expensive ones.Thats my two cents

Try physique shampoo and conditioner if you have fine, straight hair. The volumizing collection really gives your hair more volume and makes it more silky.
