HI everyone :) !!..i need advice,,I wanna dye my naturally black hair to brown...how would i do that without bleaching it & recoloring it? Ive already bleach my hair & got a orangish/reddish lite brwn color & redyed it to dark brwn. Now that i wanna redye it to a really lite brwn would my hair take better to it cuz it was bleached before?or should i just highlite it instead? also, do dying hair too much cuz it to thin out?!?! *im so worried about that* :(

You might try posting this on the Skin, Hair & Nails board. I don't know anything about how to get the color you want, but I do know that constantly coloring your hair with haircoloring products which contain ammonia, hydrogen peroxide and other strong chemicals can damage your hair and scalp, and may eventually cause some hair to fall out (thus thinner hair). To keep your hair and scalp in good health, you should try not to color too often (no more than once every 2 or 3 months or so). Since you've colored you hair quite a lot recently, before coloring it again you should do some deep conditioning treatments.

You cannot dye your hair a lighter color if it is black without bleaching it... sorry :( sucks I know.

You're going to have to bleach it with a blond color..although since your hair is black itll turn Orangeish. Then dye right after, a light brown color. Itll work.

Good luck

This is maybe not a lot of help to you sorry :) but I know that I have always used mid brown colour on my hair and always go black for a wash or two until someone told me to use a light brown dye and now it turns out brown from day 1 and that is an innovation to me as for me with pale skin and not a chicken anymore, black hair makes me look older.

You're hair would need to go through 10 different stages to get to a color that is not "orange-ish". doing it at home will most likely result in a redish brown color because the at home lightening kits take so long to reach the very pale yellow shade you need to omit a red or orange tint. by the time you reach that shade you hair will probably resemble cotton candy. For such a drastic change I would go to a professional. Your hair can only handle so much before it turns on you. Good Luck in whatever you decide to do.

deffinantly call in a professional

unless you're just sunning in highlights with lemon juice or somthing on someone with light hair already... where there's bleach involved... always seek professional help

Definitely go to a professional and be prepared for your hair to dissolve off your head. I went thru this procedure and at the end the stylists were all huddled around and surprised my hair had not dissolved.

Yes, I colored my own hair, also tried stripping the horrible color off and ended up in a big mess.

Many of us would love to have beautiful natural colored black hair. Remember, processing the hair damages the hair more than you will like. Many times hair turns to a coarse straw like texture.
