I have been on Tri-cyclen for a year and a half, but I realized recently that my decreased sex drive could be from the pill. I asked my doctor about Alesse, so she gave me some samples today, but she also said it could make me spot. What are other people's experiences with this pilll? I don't want my boobs to get smaller (I read that could happen on another thread)! Did anyone else have spotting? How about sex drives? Let me know! Thanks!

Hmm well I was on that one for about 2 years or so and eventualy I did gain a lot of weight well make that about 15 lbs in those 2 years...not a LOT but when you consider I dieted heavily and lifted weights AND counted calories about 6 months straight, I actually GAINED 20 lbs last year :( But by then I'd switched to another pill (Yasmin) and, i've noticed weight going off now so the only thing I can say I had from Aleese is weight gain, and breast tenderness w/ also them getting bigger...

AHHHHHHHHHH! I'm so confused... I have friends who have taken it and they liked it, but then I am reading so many people who have gained weight and now the sex drive!! I HATE THE PILL! Because everybody is so different, it's so hard to know what it's going to do to you! Thanks for the replies... Take care.

I have been on Alesse for four years and out of all the BC I have used:
Depo, Ortho Novum, and others, it has been the best so far. I gained 25 lbs from Depo but with Alesse I had no weight fluctuation. I still have my double d's too, although sometimes I wish they would shrink:)

I was on Alesse for the past 3 yrs or so. The last year though, I experienced spotting the week before my period. It didn't happen every time, but every other month or so, I would have a bit of spotting. It was nothing too serious, just more of an inconvience than anything.
I really liked Alesse, and I didn't gain weight from it and it helped stabalize my moods. I just recently have to switch off of it because I had break through bleeding that lasted over 10 days after my actual period. The doctor said it's because my body needs a higher dosage, than what is in Alesse (20mcg).
Good Luck!

:bouncing: I have been on Alesse for about 2 1/2 years now and I have experienced spotting a week before my period too. Sometimes I wouldn't have the spotting and then for 3 months in a row I'd have it. I'm experiencing it now. Grr I think it's at the times when I stress the most. That seems to be when it's happening. Other than that I experience the norm before my period. PMS, boobs hurt, a little cramp here and there, and an occasional mood swing and love for chocolate. If the spotting continues however, I think I'm going to see my doctor because your body does change over time. Sex drive has been all right. I wonder if some of you are on the generic kind though? That's the kind I have, and the generic brand for Alesse is Aviane. Hope some of this helps and some of you have actually helped me. :)

Alesse was a much calmer form of BCP for me, but I had no sex drive whatsoever. I got an IUD instead.
Alesse made me feel real calm, and nothing seemed to matter.

No weight gain, no sexual problems. My only side effect is spotting - pretty annoying though. BCPs are so individual in its effects!

Took many and kinds. I posted all of them somewhere on another topic. Never had an weight gain, break through bleeding or loss of sex drive but I did get migrains. I am now back on Desogen and migrains are gone. I had looked up info on each brand they doctor gave me before taking and they all said that weight gain is a possibility.
It really depends on your body's chemistry. If the chemical makeup of one BC does not work try another. Somtimes it can be the binding agents of the dye that may give you unwanted side effects. Or it could be that the dosage is just not right for your body. With over 30 types of birth control there should be one that is better for you. Here are some names of them.

I was first put on Alesse to help me from hemorrhaging during that time of the month. I noticed that I liked it a lot!!! It actually made me lose about 20 lbs while on it:) Yeah! Good Luck! :bouncing:

I've been on Alesse for a year now. I like everything about it except that it doesn't clear acne as well as Ortho Tri-Cyclen...but then again, I didn't gain a pound on Alesse. Also, I don't seem to be moody on Alesse or depressed and my body doesn't feel as swollen.

I was on Alesse for about 3 months and lost about 7 pounds not trying but i was very sick with it, made me feel light headed, and dizzy all the time. I noticed a difference in my sex drive, as well as my husband noticed the difference, he asked me to stop taking BC all together!!!!

i just finished my first three weeks of alesse. i dont notice a loss in sex drive that much. but my boyfriend has noticed my breasts starting to grow more. im just worried about weight gain. ive always been a small girl but im afraid to gain weight with the pill and im starting to notice it. but im not sure if its really weight gain, or if im just tricking myself because im thinkng about it so much. bloating could also be the problem i guess. i felt like i was loosing weight in the beginning. has anyone else had symptoms like these or gained or lost weight with alesse?

im also on alesse.
its been GREAT!
my breasts havent shrunk at all.
hahahaha
still rocking my D's.
i had a wild sex drive before. almost hard for my boyfriend to keep up.
i still have that!
if anything, the birth control makes it easier for us to have sex, whenever, anytime. so its definatly helping our sex lives.

I've been on Alesse for 3 yrs and I have an appointment with my doctor to switch pills due to the weight gain i've experienced lately. In the last year I have put on about 40 pounds, and not because I sit around and eat potato chips all day. I work out and eat a low calorie/fat diet. I even tried Slim Fast and stuff like that but to no avail. If it werent for the weight gain, I would say that Alesse is pretty good. It stopped my cramping, and I dont spot at all.
