Does anyone know where I can find free/discounted diabetic syringes? I'm strapped for cash and running low. My friends/even strangers, have been donating me their unused ones before, if they changed insulins and needed bigger ones, which helps out a lot. I don't mind paying for the shipping costs - any suggestions? I live in SC.

Sometimes my dr's office and endo gives me free syringes to tie me over until i am able to get them. Also the Salvation Army in upstate ny also gives a once every two yrs free med prescription.

Does anybody here re-use their syringes?

I'm on the pump now, but when I wasn't, I used my syringes twice. I never did that until about one year ago, but I started because I started having to take more injections than I had been approved for. I think if you reuse them too many times, you risk injury to the skin and underlying tissue because the needle gets more and more dull every time you use it. I didn't notice any problem while reusing them once.

I'm also on the pump now. But when I was on injections I would use the same needle about ten times. Never had a problem, just a little pain because the needle was getting dull.

That makes me feel better actually. My daughter has been re-using her syringes 2 or 3 times, based on the advice of another diabetic, and it's been working out fine for her so far. Some of them she'll only use once, it really depends on how she felt using it the first time.

What size do you use? I have a large supply on hand now and could probably send you 30 or so?? my email is carol.heinz@verizon.net. Let me know.
