Hey. I missed three, complete cycles and my doctor didn't seem concerned. I'm 43 and thought perhaps it was related to peri-menopause. She gave me a 5-day prescription for Provera and said that it "should" restart everything which it did. Since then, I've had cycles anywhere from 19 to 35 days long. No excessive or spot bleeding, but I can't help wonder what caused my period to suddenly stop! I don't think it would have started again without the Provera.
She seemed to feel all was well, if the Provera did it's job. What do you folks think? I told her I had felt as if the periods were coming, but they didn't.
In the 21 months prior, I had experienced two cycles that were 35 days long and one that was 42 days long, with two mid-cycle points of a single, paleish bit of spotting. I'm not sure if I had shorter cycles. Some cycles were light; others more heavy, but not excessive.
This now has me worried. I have never taken oral contraceptives and I am overweight [have been for some time]. And I recently experienced an hour or two of what feels like left ovarian pain not in relation to my cycle.
Could this be endometrial cancer? I know you folks aren't doctors and I see her again next week. Just looking for anything you'd like to share.
Take care! Diana

Hi Diana:
I am having some period problems also..I am 46, will be 47 in March, and for the past 1-3 yrs my periods became irregular, getting one between days 17 and 35 or more....Also they have been lighter and shorter...The past few months I have barely gotten a period, just a day or so of light spotting around my period time...Now this month at Day 21, I started what I thought was my period and its 2 weeks later and I still have it! I just had a pelvic, pap, and mammogram that were normal....I went to the gyn today and she gave me Aygestin ( its a progestrin) and said take for 10 days and the bleeding should stop..If not I need an endo biopsy...I am really scared now that I have endometrial cancer, just as you are....I have been very upset and crying all day...I wanted her to do a pelvic ultrasound but she would not order one...At least that would be something...I am scared also to have the biopsy as it sounds painful....Hope you are doing better...
