hey,
I feel so lost, everyone keeps talking about exfoliating, but I don't know what to exfoliate with or what strength to use  I would really appreciate help from your guys and if you could also list what type of skin you have i.e scarred, hyperpigmentation, oily, dry, acne prone or not. And the effects that you achieve with the exfoliator i.e smoother texture, less hyperpigmentation and please also let me know if it got worse before it got better so I can be prepared.
P.S if you can suggest where to get the products that would be good to
thank you

I have an oily t-zone and dry cheeks. I am prone to breakouts and have plenty of black heads in my t-zone.
I'm currently using Nivea Visage Gentle Exfoliating Scrub which I really like. It is not too rough and has little blue beads with Vitamin E and Lactic Acid in them to help moisturise your skin.
I've found it has helped keep stop my cheeks from peeling and has reduced the amount of black heads I have. I'd say it has made my skin a little smoother too.
I've read in other messages that St Ives is also a good product and I was thinking of buying some when I run out of my Nivea, just to see if it is as good.

The best exfoliating scrub that I've tried is Epidermx but you have to use it for about 5 mins at a time so I guess any fine scrub would make your skin feel smooth if you used it for long enough. You will notice a difference the next day in the texture of your skin and it definitely gives it a radiant tone. I also like it because it doesn't make my skin red like some more abbrasive, scratchy exfoliators can. I'm not sure how much it contributes to getting rid of lines/hyperpigmentation/scars (all of which I have a little of) as I use other products too though. It's not one of those products that makes you break out before you start getting better. But I think you can only buy it online for about $45.
I also love Alpha Hydroxy 10% Oil Free AHA (make sure it says oil free on the box) as a chemical exfoliator. It's great for oily/breakout skin. You can get it in a drugstore for about $10. Make sure you use a sunscreen though during the day as it chemically exfoliates the top layer of your skin and can make you sun sensitive and prone to sun damage. Again it doesn't make you break out but you should notice a nice glow to your skin within a week.
HTH.
