I got my first blood results ever back today, and the results weren't good. AST was 62 and ALT was 150. I was on Erythromycin for 4 months at 1000mg a day. Is this something that would account for those high numbers? I was off the Erythromycin for one or two days before taking the blood test. I don't ever drink and I live really healthy...this was completely unexpected to me. I'm really nervous about what it could be, I didn't think an antibiotic could raise the levels that high, especially the ALT.

I know that some meds can raise the liver levels. I'm not sure what ones though. What does your doctor say? Can you repeat the blood tests? Good luck to you. Tina

Just as a precaution have your doctor check your iron levels and if it's high check for Hemochromatosis. This leads to elevated liver enzymes. It took me 8 months for my doctor to figure this out.
