Hi. First let me say thank you ALL for your responses to my post from last week. Man, I thought I lost you guys. I didn't save the board in my favorite places and then couldn't remember how to get here but I finally found it--so I'm back. Whew, what a relief.
So....I went for my bone scan last Friday and the results were "left tarsal navicular fracture". I'm also going in for an MRI because the doctor says that I have ruptured my "peroneal tendon".
Does anyone know anything about these particular injuries?? I've done a lot of research on them but the web sites that I've found all sound so complicated and I don't understand them.
Right now I'm in a walking cast (removable) until I get the MRI done and then the doctor said "surgery"....so I guess this is pretty serious, huh??
The pain is getting worse each day, my toes are starting to feel tingly and the swelling is horrible no matter what I do (ice, rest, elevation, etc).

Any words of advice???

Thanks for everything--I'm so glad I found this board (again).

Cindy

Hey--where is everyone?? How is everyone doing??

I had my MRI and this is what I have finally been diagnosed with:

1. Fracture of the tarsal navicular (which is already healing on its own)

2. 3cm longitudal (sp?) tear of the Peroneal Brevis tendon

Ok, so the doc says the fracture is healing and will continue to heal on its own (stress fracture) but the tear needs to be fixed surgically.
Has anyone had this done or anything similar done?? I've found several websites about this diagnoses but they say different things--some say surgery is necessary and others say its not. Some say casting is necessary and others say its not.
Any advice??

Thanks,
Cindy

Go to www.proteamphysicians.com and click on patient services... Then go to treatment, and choose ankle. One of the injury choices will be peroneal tendon disorder or something along those liunes... it will give you details of all treatment options and their rehab times and such... I have found it to be very useful... Let me know if you have any questions about it. Good luck!!!
