Quick question to anyone diagnosed with BP. Is it possible to treat BP without meds? In other words, can psycho-therapy be sought to help cope with BP without having to drug myself hoping that the set of meds will "help" stablize moods/thoughts/etc.? I have been told recently that I may be BP and am in the process of seeing a psychiatrist for the first time to help correctly diagnose me.

Absolutely, in the same way that you could treat cancer, diabetes, etc. without meds. Bipolar disorder is a medical condition like any other.
Like any disease, there are alternative treatments. Some people will do well with them, many won't. If after talking to a doc you want to start with psychotherapy and hold off on meds, do it. But don't rule it out as a possibility for later.
I understand if you are concerned about side effects. But with some work and some trial and error, almost everyone can find a med regimen. One that controls your symptoms, but doesn't have excessive or intolerable side effects.
Good luck.
