I am on Depakote 1500mg and Effexor 200mg each night! I have always dreamed alot, but sense being on the depakote I have been having the wierdest dreams! I have a hard time figuring out what was a dream and what is real. Or I will be dreaming and still hear what is going on and think I am awake and then realiseI am dreaming. Does this even make sense at all to anyone? UGH! I hope someone can understand.

happens to me too. as i raise my doses of meds it gets worse. also gets worse with full moon and period.........the worst is not being able to wake yourself up from a nightmare....and dreaming about it. pretty bizarre.

when i was on effexor, my dreams were very vivid. sometimes i couldn't see the line between dream and reality, the dreams were so real like. i had no nightmares, just very realistic dreams. effexor worked great for me, but my dr. took me off of it when i told her it made me kinda tired. would the tiredness have went away after awhile? i am on lexapro now, and it doesn't seem to be as effective as effexor. effexor also helped me cut down on smoking, and i almost had it beat until she switched my meds to wellbutrin, which was not the med for me, that was a nightmare experience. effexor has been the only med that has effected my dreams. zoloft, wellbutrin, and lexapro have not. best wishes and take care

I haven't taken either drug but I did have problems when I was on antidepressants alone (misdiagnosis). Anyways, I used to be afraid to fall asleep because I knew what was waiting for me on the otherside. I'd have nightmares that would last all night and they seemed to have intermissions. During those intermissions I would try to wake myself up so that I wouldn't have another dream and I can open my eyes but I can't move or feel the rest of my body. Sometimes I can pull out of it and slowly i regain sensation. Then other times the dream just sucks me back in. It was really weird. I would have science fiction monsters, demons and satan in the flesh in my dreams. Ha, I remember I would sleep with a bible on my chest in hopes of warding off the evil. That didn't work, but when I stopped taking the antidepressants like magic the dreams went away. Though ever since then I've been able to have sci-fi dreams alot and those are fun. It's almost like it broke me into a different realm of dreaming and now my dreams are capable of being more intense. I know. It's weird. And yes, I'm being serious. :dizzy:
