I was diagnosed with a fissure about a month ago, and it is still giving me a hard time. I don't know what symptoms are a result of the fissure or not. Here is what I'm going through

1. Tearing and itching sensation when I go, especially if I have a hard stool.
2. Bright red blood on toilet paper, and even on stool if I really rip it good.
3. A dull aching sensation all around the area, that goes all the way up through the testicles (sorry to be graphic, but that's what's going on). The aching is worse if I had a bad bowel movement that day.
4. Sometimes I can feel the fissure in between bowel movements. It feels like razor blade in my pants -not fun at all.

Has anyone else had symptoms like this? I have a lot of health anxiety, and tend to get really carried away. This has been going on for about 2 months. Should I just get the thing surgically fixed? I had to leave work early on Friday because of it.

It sounds like you do have a fissure, I have one and I know what you are going through. Go to this webiste and read all the entries. I, personally, am trying to avoid surgery because it's possible to get better without it. Good luck to you.

I had a fissurectomy in 1979, I only had one bad reaction and that was fix with a catater. There were other problems related to the surgery, but those were the days of knives instead of lasers.

I have not kept up on it, but I would imagine that they use lasers for it now and the recovery time is not anywhere near what it was back then. Back then I think that they cut the fissure out of the colon and they sewed the two good cut sides together and let it heal.

My father's doctor said not to worry about the bleeding so I ignored it. I finally went to the "Rear Admiral" and was exaimined. He told me I would need it to be surgically corrected, I told him that the internist said not to worry about it. The Rear Admiral asked how long I had been bleeding and I told him about 5 years.

He said if I had been bleeding 5 years then the other doctor was a fool and it needed to be dealt with.

About 10 year ago I had a number of colonoscopies and the doctor said there was no indication whatsoever that I had been operated. He said if I had then it healed perfectly.

But it they are indeed using lasers these days, I would have it done right away if I were you. If they still do it the way I had it done, its gonna be unconfortable as hell, and your first movement you will remember the rest of your life. But either way, it needs to be dealt with
