i dunno jess.. i never use it..what is splenda..iv seen it but, dunno what it is..lol.. Is it like sugar..???

If you are trying to cut calories, sugar is a good place to start. So if you want sweetness without calories, your choices are NutraSweet (aspartame), Sweet and Low (saccharine), or Splenda (sucralose.) If you have easy access to Canadian markets (or virtually any other foreign markets), you can buy, or order cyclamate which sells there under the Sucraryl and Sugar Twin Brands.
Soon neotame and acesulfame may become common.

Choose on the basis of taste and price; they are all equally safe in sane amounts.

My fave for taste is cyclamate but ordering from Canada (and paying HUGE shipping costs) is a Royal Pain...I find saccarine nauseating so if I;m out of cyclamate, I choose aspartame or Splenda depending on what was handy.

Splena and Cyclamate are the choices for cooking.

Use what tastes best to YOU; peoples' taste buds differ WILDLY on this topic.

Personally, I avoid ALL artificial sweeteners - because, as you probably know, I avoid ALL chemical additives or preservatives in my diet. Artificial sweeteners are all toxic substances, regardless of which you choose. I would venture to guess that Sucralose/Spenda is probably the least offensive, I wouldn't go near aspartame with a 10-ft pole!. I still say you are better off using a small amount of real sugar if you are looking to sweeten something slightly (like cereal or a beverage). Better yet, once you stop sweetening, your taste for sweets WILL diminish and everything will start to taste naturally sweet, even water! :)

Splenda resembles sugar in texture and taste, but has no calories. Supposed to be better for baking. Splenda is marketed as "derived from real sugar" but they don't tell you that it is chlorinated sugar! :eek:
I mean, c'mon, cow manure is "derived from green pastures" but it's highly toxic and I would not eat it! :D

Has anyone noticed.....when you add Splenda to a hot drink like coffee...it sizzles? Its kind of freaky

There is a natural artificial sweetner that you can purchase at health food stores called STAVIA it might take u some time to get used to the taste difference, but oppossed to injesting all those chemicals what else can u do but get used to it quickly or abstain.

somebody said splenda doesn't have calories but i think it does. it has a carb a packet too i think.
