I did a search for optic nerve atrophy and your post came up. Just wondering how your son is. My 10 yo has lost vision and the drs are saying optic nerve atrophy but, it has not been diagnosed yet. What caused his ONA?

i too have been diagnosed with optic atrophy,and also with acute ischemic neuropathy,i have lost approximately 50% of vision in left eye,and now the optic nerve in right eye is dying, the word "atrophy" means"wasting",i have almost constant pain in right eye,along with a muscus that forms in the eye,i also was told by my doctor that the "optica disc" wasn't looking good either.so i just wanted to let you know that i too know what it is to suffer with this!! and my heart goes out to you for your child!!
