Hi everyone. I have anxiety..not severe,maybe middle of the road. My doctor just prescribed Buspar 5mg. once a day. My sister (who's a nurse ) said that 5 mg. probably wouldn't do me any good. I just wanted to see what ya'll thought. How long do you have to take it before it helps? I have been on it for 3 days. I just feel irritated..biting my husband's off, etc.. I just cannot relax!! thanks

takes up to 10 days and must be taken daily, its a tranquilliser
IMO any valium type med would be better and chaaper and can be taken only as needed

Buspar didn't help me at all...had ZERO effect. Took it for roughly 12 weeks or so... :rolleyes:

My daughter was using Buspar. I don't know the mg. Anyway, she had a bad experience with it. She was told it would take 2 weeks for the full affect. Now she is going back on Doxapin which has worked well for her for about 5 years.

I've been on Buspar for 4 years, and it has helped me tremendously. I have been diagnosed with Panic Disorder. I taken Ativan and Buspar. I have been taking Ativan for 18 years, before they really knew how additive and dangerous benzo's were. I will be on them for life now. I suggest to ONLY stay on the buspar. It took about 10 days to starts working. It works like and anti-depressant in that effect. DO NOT GET INTO THE BENZO'S FOR ANY REASON if you can't help it. Good luck!

I have been on it twice. Both times it would cause me to have the dry heaves about 2 hours after I took it. I even tried getting up and taking it in the middel of the night so I could sleep through it...no luck.
