My dark blonde hair was highlighted (for the millionth time) to a very light blonde in June, and since then it has become VERY dry and damaged. It's really only the bleached streaks of my hair that are noticeably dry. I'm attempting to do lots of at-home repair (using much better products, blow drying and straightening less, etc), but I was wondering if colouring my hair darker would help. I'd go to the salon to get this done, I wouldn't do it myself. I've read before the darkening bleached hair can help repair it, is that true??

I had my hair coloured dark brown last fall and I noticed that it looked way healthier and shinier after, it was almost like getting a new head of hair. I would never go that dark again because it was quite the drastic change, but I'm thinking of getting my whole head toned down to at least a dark blonde or a warm light brown. Would this be a wise move? Or should I just steer clear of all colour for a while until my hair has grown out a bit more?

Do NOT color your hair for a bit. There is, at some salons a way to put pigment in your hair and that will help repair the damage. You will have to look around to find it but I do not think it's very expensive. I had it done once before. buy this kind of conditioner....I swear by it.....it's Herbal Essance and it's in a fat yellow bottle. It is the most moisturizing conditioner you will ever use. Remember your hair grows from the inside out so it's what you put in your body that will make your hair healthier too. Do you take a multi vitamin? Do you have enough calicium in your system? Your hair is over processed and it needs a break. If you can do not wash it every day so the natural oils can help condition it. It takes time. By stripping your hair to blond it thins the hair and dry's it. Thus......Stripping it of everything. I hope I helped. Good luck

Well, the upkeep would be easier!
Adding back color can smooth it but nothing really fixes damage but cutting.
Do not go with a permanent color a semi/demi perm. should do it.
Go and ask at the salon for a color consult.
