Okay, I'm freaking out. I've been noticing blue "spots" in my vision lately--a couple times a day for about a week now. So I made an appt for Monday with my eye dr. just to check everything out. I've had a bad head cold and tonight I sneezed and saw a bright white light when I sneezed!! Does that mean I'm close to detachment you think? Nothing has changed in my vision but I've never seen that before! Sunlover can you help?

Hey there 720l,
Have you found anything out about your blue spots. I have just recently started seeing these - only for a second, but they are freaking me out. I have been having other weird visual phenomenon happening lately, too. I am wondering if you've been to a doctor yet? Are the spots in one eye or both?
About the sneezing, I think the flash of light can be somewhat normal. It *COULD* indicate a potential retinal tear, but this can be easily diagnosed and fixed via laser in a doctor's office (so I've been told), so I'd just go get your eyes dialated to see what's going on. I see these flashes of light sometimes as I am drifting off if I hear a loud noise or something startles me. The doctor was not concerned as I am extremely hypersensitive (and have been checked out for other neurological things and vision problems - all fine).
Let me know how things are going for you.
Good luck,
Stella
Stella13---I called my eye dr about the spots before my appt because I tend to overreact.......he said if they increase to call him but he wants me to see my doctor for a checkup. I go in 2 weeks to my dr. The spots have happened in both eyes which is why he said he wasn't that concerned. I didn't even mention the sneeze to him. I have gone for a day and not noticed any spots (when I'm really busy). I think it may be a trailer of light...when I look at for instance the brake lights of the car ahead of me during the day, when I look away they stay in my vision for a little while, only sometimes they are a different color, not red. Sometimes I think if I didn't read these boards I wouldn't overreact about these things!

That is amazing what you said about the car brake lights. I see the EXACT same thing too. They're called afterimages and I have been told they are normal, but that I am just hypersensitive and LOOKING for everything to be wrong with me. I, too, tend to overreact to medical problems, but this vision crap I've been seeing really really worries me. I see these 'new' blue spots when nothing is around that could have caused them to be afterimages (no red lights or anything red). I see it when I quickly look down or to the side (sometimes). I even see it in the dark sometimes, so that I why I worry. Oh the worry...I do think anxiety has a lot to do with my new visual problems.
Good luck to you. I bet you are just fine. Let us know what the Dr. says.
