Get enough sleep, drink lots of water and use a good vitamin K cream at night before bed.

If you do use vitamin K cream, don't use the Vita-k cream for undereye circles, that line of products doesn't work at all. I used a whole jar of it religiously and there was no change at all.

I use Mary Kay dark circle diminisher. But any will work. Try going to the makeup counter at any department store and ask them for under eye cream with vitamin K. Almost all high end cosmetic companies carry it.

I tried the vit. K cream and had an allergic reaction. Yikes! I did find a good way to cover up though. I use the Bare Minerals makeup. They have what they call Bisgue multi-tasking minerals. You can put that over the dark circles and then apply the mineral foundation over it. It does an awesome job of concealing them. This makeup is the most incredible stuff I have ever used and very natural looking.

I just started using Vita-K Solution: For Dark Circles. I was surprised that my town would have it.. It's pretty small! I found this at CVS pharmacy for around $10 I think. I don't know if it's working yet or not.. I REALLY hope it does! When I first started using it, it stung a little, but now it's fine. I don't know if this will work or not because I really don't have bags under my eyes.. My face is thin and I have pale skin. The darkness is probably due to my allergies and the skin just being so thin around my eyes. Anyway, let me know if the cream works for you! :)

How long have you been using it?

rachel33

Somewhere around 5-7 days. I can't remember when I went to the store! The instructions said I would see results within a few weeks, GUARANTEED or I can get my money back.

Hi I just wanted to let you know that I really am starting to see a difference! I've been applying the Vita-K solution two or three times a day and I've started drinking LOTS of water. The combination really seems to be working! I still have them, but they seem to be lighter. I'm going to keep this up and hopefully I'll see a big difference in about a month! Water seems to be another thing that really does help..So drink your water lol! :)

Dark eye circles are thin skin revealing the veins underneath. Nothing is going to fade them.

A plastic surgeon once told me that retin A, while it thins the epidermis, it thickens the layer underneath. I have never consistently applied retin A because it irritates the skin and you have to avoid the sun. But once in a while I apply it only to the dark 'crescent' farthest from my eyeball. I meant to buy a milder formula last time is was in a Mexican farmacia, but they gave me the usual .05%. I know there is a .025%.

I read somewhere recently that the best way to conceal them is to use one of those light refracting makeups or concealers. I have been using Revlon's Skinlights Illusion Wand - Luminous Touch. When I'm applying it, I don't think it's working and keep trying to apply more, but later, when I'm all done and looking at my whole face, I do think it looks better.

You are correct, lindamm, dark circles are due to the thinness of the skin in that area and nothing you can buy will make them go away. I did try the light refracting concealers - the Dior one which is suppose to be one of the best - and I didn't care for it at all. I thought it drew more attention to my undereyes, it was just a tad too sheer and very shiny. I guess that's suppose to be the light reflecting properties but I thought it looked awful on me. I promptly threw it in the trash and went back to my Neutrogena one. I'm going to try the visibly firm one today so I'll see if that one is better than my regular one.....

I have had dark circles under my eyes since I was a teenager and, believe me, that has been many years ago. I have tried every concealer that I have seen. Not all concealers are created equal! Recently I have been using Coverup made by Lorac in a medium shade and it is one of the best I have every tried. It is available on the QVC shopping channel and no doubt can be purchased other places. I also like Estee Lauder Smoothing Cream Concealer, available at cosmetic counters in dept. stores, and Mojave Magic Industrial Strength Concealer (available on QVC). Nothing has permanently gotten rid of undereye circles but these products really work for me. Good luck. :)

Well, I just tried the Neutrogena Visibly Firm concealer and I have to admit, it is one of the best I've ever used. I was a little skeptical at first because it comes in a tube rather than a stick so I thought it would be too sheer, but this stuff really covers. And when they say to apply 3 tiny dots and blend, they mean THREE tiny dots, because a very little goes a very long way. It's nothing like the neutrogena concealer in the lipstick tube, which I didn't really care for. In fact, I haven't cared for concealers for quite awhile now because I have fine lines under my eyes, and most concealers seem to make them even more noticeable as it tends to settle into the lines. Also, they're usually a bit shiny and too creamy, which also makes the lines more noticeable. But this visibly firm one has more of a matte finish to it so it doesn't 'slide' all over the place. It's also thicker than you'd think and covers very well. I'm very impressed with it.

Dark circles are not always caused by thin skin, many many times it is caused by an allergy that you may not even know you have. It could be an allergy to milk or all dairy, or some other food or drink, it doesn't even have to be a majorly noticeable allergy.

You can look up information about it on the net and find that it is almost always a symptom with several allergies, they're usually called "shiners". They can still be there even if that allergy is just a slight allergy and you don't know about it. You might find out that you have other symptoms that could correlate with an allergy to something, that could help you pinpoint it. You should think about everything you eat and drink and look up allergy information on it and see if you have any kind of those symptoms. If you do end up suspecting that you have an allergy to something then you can eliminate that food for a while and see what happens, and then introduce it back to your diet and see if any symptoms come on, but for some things it takes a while to fully get out of your system.

Ya never know, you could end up helping other things on and in your body if allergies is the case and you're able to fix it.... I, myself, think I'm allegic to milk because I have the dark circles along with other symptoms present that come on when I have milk, and I'm seeing how it goes while I avoid it. I do feel better so far and I notice my circles getting ligther, but sometimes I notice other symptoms with some other foods, like corn, so I guess ya just have to test things out. I guess some people are just more sensitive than others. I also stopped drinking sodas, maybe just once in a little while, and I drink lots of water. Sugar is pretty bad for you and can make all sorts of things worse. It could help out too if you eat lots of good foods regularly and maybe take a multi-vitamin daily, getting Calcium helps the skin as well. Well just wanted to let everybody know about the allergy thing, because not a lot of people know about it. Hope it helps out. =)

I'm not able to see the relation between dark circles and lack of sleep...

mysterythere

The reason lack of sleep sometimes causes dark circles is because that area isn't getting enough blood/oxygen when the body is standing or sitting up for too long.

Also people with chronic sinus problems usually have dark circles as well, I know, I'm one of them. About the best thing I have had work for me is drinking lots of water and getting more sleep if I've been out alot. Another thing, GENES it's really about the family Gene pool, if your mother or father has a tendency to have them more than likely so will you, my mother and brother have the dark circle to.

the wind,

I am glad that I read your post. I would of never have thought of having an allergic reaction to something . I just started getting these dark circles about 2/3 weeks ago. About the same time I started taking all these vitamins, and drinking this whey protein shake w/low fat milk (which I do not usually drink). I never had dark circles before, nor do they run in my family. I drink plently of water and get more than enough sleep. Believe me I love to sleep. Well I did not take all of my vitamins (approx 7) for three days and the dark circles started to disappear. At first I thought it was the cream I was using but I woke up again with the dark circles probably because I took the vitamins last night. I am going to stop taking the vitamins for a while and the protein shake and see if these circles will go away.

It is worth a shot to see if that is the problem. Who knows. It was just a too big of a coincidence that the dark circles started to go away when I was not taking the vitamins. Maybe I am allergic to one of them.

We will see......

I've tried a lot of them as well and none work completely, but I have found that the yellow concealer works the best for under eye circles. I use Estee Lauder yellow.
