A few months ago I noticed a lump under my nipple. Its about 1 and a half cm all around. I wasnt concerned because Im only 17, so I figured it was some kind of breast development hickup.

Recently, it has started to hurt. If I squeeze it hard enough it really hurts. Sometimes I get stabbing pains in my breast and other times my breast aches. I have woken up in the middle of the night a few times because my breast was hurting. The pain has only been going on a week or so though, before that it didnt hurt at all.

I would like to know what this is. My mother and I dont have the most open relationship so I dont want to start a in depth conversation about my breasts with her unless I really have to.

I dont have a history of breast cancer, or any type of cancer for that matter, on either side of my family. I know it isnt likely to have breast cancer so young, but Its better to be safe than sorry.

So if anyone has any ideas about what my lump is, Id be grateful. Thanks.
