I thank You for replying to my post below. In your reply you said that you had problems at a hospital in Atlanta. I'm curious about this because I am in Atlanta, going to Emory. I'm wondering whether I should be concerned.

Thanks,

Mel

That's where I was. I had my first VEEG there, and I also have the chart from that experience. They let me stay in Complex Partial Status for "a day" per my Epileptologist who has since gone back to where he came from in Pa. The staff didn't recognize CP status per my doc. Needless to say, I had to figure out how old I was when they finished using me as a lab rat for their students. Since brain damage can occur after 30 minutes of continuous seizing, that day long status more likely than not did just that. I now have a focus on the left, and at no time since diagnosis at age 14 has anyone ever mentioned the left side! I consider that place to be more of a laboratory! There is no way I'd ever let them touch me again. I also called the State and talked to people in the Dept that accredits hospitals and talked to them. It was good that I changed facilities based on what they told me. Please do your research and ask the right questions. . That's why it is imperative to go to a facility that does indeed care more about their patients than themselves, their reputation, or their students. If you use the Search Feature, look for posts by Tattoo. I was using that name then. Please also go to other boards and post there since you will have more opinions. I in no way regret making the move to Augusta. That was the right thing to do.
You have to do what is right for you. I was there a few years ago and maybe things have changed since then. I encourage you to ask the questions we all have to ask in order to be assured we are in the right place. Ask to talk to some of the adult patients who had their surgery there and done by the same neurosurgeon. Aks the number of successful cases the neurosurgeon has logged. Ask how long he has been doing the surgery you are to have. Please do a lot of reading and asking questions as you make your decision. Phoebe

thank you so much for your reply. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience there. :(
I also had my veeg done there. I guess really the only complaint I had was that they didn't really listen to my opinion on a couple of things and the fact that they didn't explain that I might be there for 7 days.
I am hoping to talk to a couple of ladies that had their surgery there so I can get some more opinions.

Thank you again,

Mel
