I have recently been diagnosed with HSV 1 on my penis. :(

I'm ok with it, but my main worry is how infectious I will be in the future.

I've been told that the chances are the virus will always be with me, but will "probably" not re-appear again.

So... if i have sex in the future, and i have not had an outbreak re-occure, would it be irrisponsible for me to not declare my HSV1 status?

I dont want to infect onyone, but at the same time I do not want to unnecessarily ruin my love life :O)

thanks guys

the virus will always be with you. The chance part is that it may/may not re-appear again....but yeah, you should always inform partners. They say the likelihood of infecting someone from genital to genital with hsv1 isnt as great as with hsv2 but its always possible.

Imagine if you didn't have another ob for years, and didn't inform partners. You are with the girl of your dreams, whom you plan to marry. Then you give it to her, not recognizing the symptoms of an impending ob, in the few days before the sore appears. She's furious you never told her, feels betrayed, will never trust you again. Even if she isn't the one for you, you have accidentally infected someone without giving her the choice to say no. So in any case, you should be honest. It can be difficult, that's for sure.
