View Full Version : IgAN and Diovan

Hi,

Was just diagnosed with IgAN yesterday ... a mild "flavour" accordingly to my Nephrologist ... and was prescribed 180/120 Fish Oils (starting with 1 per meal going to 3 per meal in 1 - 1 1/2 weeks) and Diovan (1 per day).

Has anyone else been prescribed Diovan, or know more about it than I might! I understand it's a high blood pressure medicine and that apparently it will help eliminate the blood in my urine, but that's about all I know.

Thanks for any help.

Hilander.

Sorry, I forgot to also ask ...

I've been diagnosed after a string of urinalyses (spanning over almost 3 years - no one caught it until I applied for Health/Life Insurance), but short of a biopsy. Does a biopsy need to be done to confirm it's IgAN, or do the urinalyses (always blood in urine and always elevated proteins) speak for themselves?

Thanks again, Hilander.

I had blood in my urine, and had many tests done, but in the end, I wound up having a biopsy, in order to see if it was IgA or if it was a rarer disease called Loin Pain Hematuria Sydrome. So I had the biopsy done and was diagnosed with LPHS. So you can have a biopsy done, and be diagnosed with IgA. Good luck.
