by reading on here at some other people's problems i dont know exactly how to explain mine... but here goes.... my eyes have had this unusual occurance for awhile now (maybe 6 months +) and i dunno if they always did this and i didnt pay attention until now with some anxiety im having OR this is new and is serious....

i have had migraines before and the aura that i always experience is a "multi-colored fuzzing" around the edges of my eyes on whatever side the migraine is occuring on .... the only way to furthur explain it is a tv with no reception that has a completely fuzzed out channel except i see colors instead of black and white and the fuzz is very very fine, not large.....

NOW, finally to my problem.... when i get up out of bed quickly or prematurely, or open my eyes from sleep (not all the time, but does happen enough to notice it), or rub my eyes with a decent amount pressure (not light touch), i get this same fuzz on the outside of my visual field and then it goes away with in 2-5 seconds.... SHOULD I be alarmed???? what could this be? the only thing i can relate my symptoms to is posterior vitreous detachment.... but knwoing that it is almost exactly the same symptoms of my migraines, which are caused by blood vessels abnormally dilating in the brain i wonder if i have a blood vessel problem or i dunno what the heck it could be... HELP

Stacey,

I see it's been awhile since your post and I hope all is okay. I have heard MANY people see weird stuff upon awakening and also if you put pressure on your eyes. They're called phosphenes and are normal when putting pressure on the eye. I wouldl go to the doctor to get a dialated eye exam, but I bet you are okay. It is AMAZING what the human body can manifest under stress. If you look for things in your vision, you WILL find them. I'd also look into finding some way to manage your anxiety. I know the anxiety is stemming from the vision stuff, but if you reduce the anxiety some how, then the vision phenomena won't be so obvious. Just get a regular check up every year just in case. Try to relax (I know, easier said than done)!

Good luck and keep us posted!
Stella
