View Full Version : Glandular Fever Again?

Hi,
I'm 21 and had glandular about 2 years ago. I was sick for 2-3 weeks but seemed to get back on track reasonably easily.
My boyfriend has recently been diagnosed with it. I've not really made an effort to stay away from him, because I thought getting a second infection of it was unlikely.
For the last 5 weeks, however, I've had a really persistent headache. After two weeks of dull (occasionally sharp) constant pain I went to the doctor who prescribed antibiotics for what he assumed was sinusitis. The headaches persisted and I've been convinced I'm not 100% - as though I've been fighting off something. This last week I've felt worse though. Other than the headaches (which was what bothered me most until this week), I'm also experiencing arm and leg ache (almost like restlessness of my limbs while they feel heavy and dull if that makes any sense), thirst, tiredness, the last two days i've had a very sore throat, a sore armpit (though maybe I was imagining that one - not sure), a bit of sneezing, nausea and headache, headache, headache!
My question is: Am I wrong in thinking a second infection of mono is unlikely? I hope I don't have it because I have exams over the next two weeks and would like to be healthy fast, and I DON'T want to have to avoid exercise...but in a way, at least it would be an explanation for the constant headaches that could otherwise be worrying.
I don't want to waste my time or a doctor's if it is just a cold or flu. Is it worth going for a blood test?
What's your opinion?
Ta.

Hi, I would definitely see the doctor and make sure what it is.
Keep us posted as to your update.

There's a product that's called Cold FX...it's supposed to help with the duration of colds/flu as well as help prevent them by keeping the immune system strong. Do a check and see if it's worth a shot for you.....I understand it's fairly expensive and there's a process of how to take them... It's being studied in Canada and has had success..

Best to you,
quincy

well mono is a virus and it will always remain in your body...dont worry about 95% of the population has it...it just the difference of producing the symptoms of it our not...it is not unusually to have a reacurrance..should not last much longer than 7 days. the sore armpit was probably you lymp nodes swelling. Initially you may have had mono and now you might have the flu or maybe even tonsilitis. You have a fever? Mono is almost always associated with a fever. tonsilitis sounds more like it to me...yo umight have swollen aneinoids as well...have you had any earaches..or perhaps crusty eyes when you wake up?
