Have any of you seen this infomercial?? The split ender?? A brush type thing you pull through your hair and it snips off the split ends of your hair.

Noone can sell me ocean front property in Arizona, but is this thing for real?

Some infomercials seem true but I'm skeptical about others. Oxyclean-sux george forman grill-sux, steam roller hair curlers-sucked, flobee-just plain stupid, revo hair syler(rotating brush)actually tangles hair-way stupid!!

So.. is the split-ender magic or just camera tricks??

I have not seen this infomercial, but the old fashioned way works well....cut off split ends with sissors. If you cut far enough above the split end it should permanently solve the problem.

I myself would be skeptical, only because I've always felt that if it were really a wonderful product, would it not be in stores? Get them cut as you've been doing and save your hair from possible damage from this 'new' product. As they say - If it's too good to be true...it probably is.

Hmmm...I have the george formin grill and love it. I also like oxyclean. I also bought the set it and forget about it meat bbq cooker (inside) and love that too, so maybe I am one of the more satisfied customers :) I did buy some exercise equip from TV though that I thought stunk and hurt my knees.

But, how much was this split end remover? I agree that a hair cut is probably the best thing...but I'll keep my eyes open too!

Ya'll look at it..it's at www.split-ender.com (http://www.split-ender.com) see what you think..it's by revo. I bet it stinks just like their revo styler. If you look at the pictures of the women on the site, it looks like they've had their hair styled(professionally) in the after pic.

gailmac~ I'm happy you have had good results with your george foreman grill. I grilled chicken once and it came out tough and dry. The only thing we us it for is hot dogs now. As for the oxyclean. The guy on the commercial uses the bottle of oxyclean on the grape-juice stained shirt and the stain disappears. I tried it on a ketchup stain and it did nothing. Good old tide is what I use.

I'd be afraid to use this... probably cut off all my hair! However, I use the Revo and love it. I think you have to have a certain type hair to use it. My daughter's girlfriend, who has very thick curly hair, hates it. It just makes her hair 'poofy'. My friend, who has thin wavy hair, hates it. It tangles like crazy.

And, I love oxyclean...have about 3 containers of it spread thru out the house. Great stain remover. I hated my George Foreman grill until I cooked veggies on it. Meat comes out tough and dry, but veggies (eggplant, zucchini, onions, portabello mushrooms, come out really good. :)

i would be very skeptical...although oxyclean works for me, and so does the george foreman grill, i have always been taught that make-up and hair stuff on infomercials are all fake...i dont know why,t hat's just what my mom always told me.

Your mom is very wise :D

I guess I'll try the foreman grill with veggies.

I'm still not sold on the oxyclean :(

Thanks everyone,

I just cooked some steak on my GF grill and it was sooooo awesome. Plus, the main reason I use it is to reduce the fat intake. yes, it won't be as juicy as if it was drenched in fat, but for something healthier, I love it! I also use it for chicken, but my chicken is a bit dryer. It does better when I cut it in half (butterfly). I do love Tide too!

I just checked out the site. Yes, it does look like they have product, color and flat ironed hair. I would like to hear from some people out there before I bought it too.

I was talking to a friend about infomercials and in particular, the George Foreman grill. She swears its the best way to cook fish. (I'm not a big fish eater so I wouldn't know) She says she just sprays the grill with Pam, puts some herbs and slices of lemon under and on top of the fillet or hunk of fish :), sticks it in, closes the lid and about 7-10 minutes later its done, moist, and delicious.

i'm very curious about this product as well, but i hesitate to order it due to the high cost and the long waits - 3 weeks +, i've heard!

I've heard all the Igea products suck, and I hate Oxyclean. I do love my George, though. The only thing is, regardless of what the commercials say, I find it horrible to clean!!!! But it makes great steak!

I am always skeptical about TV advertized brands. My hubby says the same thing. If they were so great, they'd be in stores! And I'm not talking about Walmarts "As Seen On TV" rack!!

Kera~

I wonder if the site, makes up the wait time to make us believe that so many people are ordering it.

siren~ I agree with you!! As seen on TV BLAHHH When I see that rack in walmart I want to scream http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/hammer.gif

I finally got my split ender in the mail about 2 weeks ago... it took FOREVER to get here like a month and a half!

I used it and it totally does what it says. It took of about 1/8 inch from each section/each piece I cut. I know because I opened the little thing and tapped out all the little pieces. My hair looked healthier after I would go over each section 3 times each which is what they tell you to do.

I sat and did my whole head. The only reason why I bought it is because I HATE split ends and I hate going to the salon where they chop off all your hair.

One thing though, the after shots probably do have them flat ironed up if you ask me, but i'm fine with flat ironing and I got that revo styler free too so that straitens me up just follow ALL the directions.

I would say it definitely does what it says, just takes forever to arrive at your house unless you get the rush shipping.

good luck

"If they were so great, they'd be in stores"
I HATE when people say that. It's so stupid. Not everything you buy in the stores is so great either. Listen to all the people complaining about Pantene and different make-up and EVERYTHING. Just by being in stores doesn't make something great or crappy.

I would be skeptical personally,

but I have heard of this new heated scissors that is used to close the hair folicles after the ends are cut, keeping them from splitting.

I know of a salon in miami that offers it called
oh la la salon and spa.

this is the info from their site about it:
Oh La La Hair Colour & Spa of Miami Lakes announced it now offers a "cutting edge of hair styling" with the Thermocut-System Jaguar TC Wellness Haircut.

Salon owner Carlo Krockel said split ends will disappear after one natural "regeneration" haircut using the high-tech heated scissors. "It Doesn't matter what type of hair - thick, normal or thin, short or long - the Jaguar TC offers a solution by heat-sealing the hair ends, retaining natural moisture and vital proteins which activates the self-regeneration of the hair,' Krockel added.

wow nikitate, you're the expert now!

i think it probably really does work if there's a huge wait for it, because that means there's high demand. and the cost is so high, they must really think they're got something there.

i really want one, because i'm growing my hair and don't want a lot cut off. but i want to wait until the cost and the waits come down a little. i don't need one immediately, and it seems i won't get it immediately anyway, even if i ordered it right now.

what i think is really cool about it is that it's a great way to preserve your haircut when you get it cut how you like it. in the long run you'll save money with it, because you'll save on actual haircuts at the salon.

I watched the advertisment for the splitender and came to the website to find out some things about it. when i seen it it really caught my eye, but it seems like everyone on the show all had pretty straight hair... my hair is natural curly and poofy i guess you could say i am looking for someone that has hair like mine that has tried the splitender and what their results are..... i hope to hear from someone.I think everyone has different experiences with everything, some things work for some and not for others..

My split ender came in the mail yesturday, and I used it last night. I'm sooooo happy that I took the chance. It works exactly the way it's supposed to. Now I can grow my hair as long as I'd like without those annoying split ends making it look bad, by the way I'm a hairdresser!

Why buy this contraption (plus S/H charges!) when you can go to some cheap chain salon and for $10 get them to do a micro-trim of 1/8 of an inch? I do it all the time. My hair is quite long (past the back of my bra) and as long as you're specific with the stylist...no problems at all. And if your hair is long enough, in between visits to the salon it's easy enough to "dust" your hair yourself with a little pair of scissors. You really don't need to buy this thing off TV to do it for you!!

The split ender is a great product. I just ordered mine off of ebay. I only paid 20 dollars for mine. Just thought that I would pass along the info.

Oh, and the GF Grill. It is great! I just recently had my gaul blatter removed. I can only eat meat from there because it drains the food and grease!

I'm not buying it.. cutting off the tip of every hair is not going to make your hair look like THAT....

besides did you LOOK at the guy who invented it? he's got a mullet with the long hairs bleached... you want a guy like that having ANYTHING to do with your hair? go to the site and go to "about"... the guy is a FREAK... he would not come within 1000 FEET of my hair.

Question for all the ppl who used it:

Does it really cut off exactly 1/8 off your hair? I went to the website and it seems that the directions sound too simple. I have a feeling that it cuts off uneven parts of the hair.

And does it only cut off strands of hair that's damaged(how would it know which strands are damaged)? Or does it cut off every strand of hair that you put into the plate? And how exactly does it snip off the broken fragments? That seems pretty scary. If it does try to snip off broken hair, then it means that it doesn't just snip off 1/8 of the hair strand. So it could be possible that it will also snip off 1/2 the strand of your hair!

!!!!All you Split Ender Skeptics!!!!

First of all I am new to this board and I found it while looking for information about the Split Ender. I am glad that I have found a creaditable resourse.

I am a Makeup Artist, Hair Stylist, and an Esthetician. I have very curly hair and alot of split ends. When I straghten my hair they are all visable. When you have curly hair every inch is valueable, so the idea of only cutting off just the split ends is a great one.

For those who have trashed the contraption with out using it hear me out:

If you have curly hair, duh! If you even run a brush through it while curly of course it will poof and frizz, what makes you think that running any brush type contraption through your hair, (like the Split Ender), will do any diferent?

Irf you go to get a trim they always do it wet.
Do you know why?
Because it helps to temporaly relaxes the curl; there for making the hair easer to cut and run a comb through.

The blond guy who is endorseing the product, would obviously need it because his hair is so fried!

Those thermo-scissors would only work for those who have healthy hair. It is not the exact end, that was trimed that always splits. It is also damaged hair that breaks of or dry, brittle hair that is riped off by styling.

The $10 haircut remark, obviously does not know the value in a quality trim. If you want to trust "Tiffany", the Beauty School reject, with a pair of scissors, chomping on gum, and sobbing about her cheeting boyfriend; go right ahead.

So people, please know your facts. I will place my testamony when I purchase my Split Ender.

Thank you Niki for the educated response. Sorry that others looked over the fact that you are a profesional.

How do I not know the value of a quality trim? That's a little bit harsh! I love my hair, in fact it's my vanity and I'm very conscious of split ends and the "quality" of getting a nice trim. I've been going to a cheaper salon to the same stylist for years, and I have long hair that I would more likely trust with someone who knows I only want an 1/8 of an inch off, over a fancier, trendier salon stylist who always wants to cut off more, layer it or colour it. All I was saying is that personally, I wouldn't buy a contraption to cut my splits for me, I'm just too skeptical - I feel more comfortable going to a salon to get a little trim done for me by someone I have trusted for a while now. If you like the thing, by all means that's cool. No need to be abrasive!

oh my gosh, i don't remember. got it off the tv or splitender.com i'm starting to see them on ebay.

the revo styler does NOT work. it's a total waste of money. it makes your hair poufy and you MUST have one of those slim tips on your hairdryer or your wasting your time. i get MUCH better results using a variable heat iron on the hottest setting your hair can stand

Hi, my split ender arrived. I don't like it. It tangles my hair and pulls it out. Then when I open the little hair box where the ends are "supposed" to be, I don't see any. I called the no. they had in the box for Customer Service. The line is always busy. So I called the ordering line and was given a number that I can't access from my location. I have it already packaged to return AS SOON AS I CAN FIND THE ADDRESS! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/t_down.gif

i was having issues when i first tried it but you HAVE to read the instruction booklet and follow it to a T. if you were getting tangles, then you must prewash, precomb and even possible prestraighten before it works. and your sections should be smaller. basically follow the book and you'll have no problems.

i just had to run the hairdryer with comb attachment quickly through my hair first then it worked perfectly.

Once ends are split there is NO possible way to repair them. However, there are smoothers you can use after blowdrying such as redken outshine. There are also leave in conditioners that strengthen hair to eliminate future splits.

:bouncing:
Hello Ladies! I have just tried my split-ender. I didn't have to order from ebay or the website (who wants that crappy Revostyler anyway??).

I saw it at my local Walgreens for $39.99. You need 4 AA batteries also.
I have curly, thick frizzy hair with long layers. With all these different lengths, it's impossible to trim just a little. I always look like I've been weed-wacked after I get a trim. Sure, my hair felt good, but WAY too much was cut off. My hair grows slow enough as it is.

Anyhow, I straightened my hair with a my ceramic hot iron (the BEST for your hair - no hair dryer & round brush needed - plus my hair has NEVER been so straight!). Once my hair was straight and tangle free - and with NO hair junk in it, I began the split ender. My hair feels awesome, most split ends are gone and my hair length didn't change one bit. I dumped out the little cartridge and it was full of tiny split ends and that's it. I was really nervous with the layers, thinking there was NO way it would snip JUST those without cutting the rest of my hair. Just follow the directions. Start from the root, and pull slowly to the tips. Just make sure the direction switch is going the right way (towards the tips of your hair). They make it easy for doing both sides.

For me, it was worth the $40 just to clear my hair of split ends and FOR ONCE keep my length - even for just that one time. It's great because I can keep using it (about every 3-4 weeks) and watch my hair GROW, GROW, GROW!

If you have any questions, let me know!

ps. Does anyone know why 'reneeintx' was banned?

Take care! ~Dana~

Hi Dana,
Thanks for all the info on the split ender, I have been wondering about this and wanted to hear from someone who used it. You don't by chance have a before and after picture do you? I was a little concerned about using it b/c it's hard to beleive, but from your experience, it sounds like it works great!!! I don't have really long hair, but it's past my shoulders and I want to keep growing it. I too, have long layers and it's hard to find someone who can do a trim right and still keep the length! Thanks again for the info!!!

I have this and I agree...it works. My split ends were not too bad...but bad enough to warrant a trim...I used it for the first time and my hair felt much softer....Not quite as good as when you get a trim but it did get alot of the dead ends off. Very good if you are letting your hair grow out. :)

I would have to say that the split ender is not going to work like it says. How is it posible to just brush a thing through your hair and it will ONLY cut off the split ends? The only way to get rid of split ends is to cut them off, and I don't know that this thing would actually work. Plus, in the before and after pics, the people's hair is just messed up in the first pic and professionally done in the second, and a couple look the have extensions. I would say just take care of you hair the old fashion way.

I just purchased one (last week) and I have really long hair. Its a piece of junk! Yeah......if your lucky it'll snip a lil bit of your hair off (I'm not saying that it doesn't snip some hair off.......but it's not alot plus I looked in the container to see if the snipped pieces were the split ends and it wasn't.....maybe a few pieces). I see TONS of split ends that the split ender didn't seem to find.

Maybe if I run it through my hair a hundred times maybe it will eventually work..........but I doubt it!!!!! This product is a farse! Please don't waste your money. Paid 28.00 brand new (including shipping) from ebay........it's worth maybe a dollar.

I bought this thing in either Eckerd or Rite-Aid for $20 several months ago, and it is the best $20 I have ever spent on hair stuff. It must depend though, on what type of hair you have. I have baby-fine, chin length, mostly straight hair, so obviously no problem for me, which is good b/c I get very bad split ends even when I air-dry my hair all the time. It seems like when I have to go in for a trim, they have to cut it shorter than it was before my last one b/c the split ends are so bad. It is a bit difficult to pull through your hair, and you do have to do it in VERY small sections, so I can see where it might be a problem for people with long, thick, curly hair. You would definitely need to straighten it first, and probably do it in smaller sections than whatever the directions say to do.
But as long as your hair is not too long, thick, or curly, this is an excellent product.
Although, I do agree that the infomercial is totally fake. They only show people with long thick curly hair, and it is miraculously straight & smooth after using this...********. Their hair is obviously straightened, smoothed, and glossed over between the before & after shots. I bet they didn't even use the thing at all (or if they did, it probably took them about 6 hours to get through all their hair).
