View Full Version : Using a flat iron to flip ends up?

Hi,
I have very straight, fine hair that is about shoulder length. Recently I saw a hairstyle in a magazine that I liked, and it said that they used a flat iron to flip the ends up. Has anyone tried this, and does it require any special technique?

I've tried using a large-barrel curling iron and the blow-dryer with a brush to flip the ends up, but it just doesn't look right. I never thought of getting a flat iron because my hair is so flat already, but if it works to flip the ends up maybe it would be worth the investment. I don't want to make my hair any straighter, but I'm wondering if flat irons are more versatile than I had previously thought. For example, can a flat iron be used to give some "lift" at the roots?

Just wondering if anyone does anything else with them besides just straightening! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Yeah, my stylist does it all the time. All you have to do is act like your straightening it but then turn your wrist up when you get to the ends. It's really simple. Give it a shot.
