View Full Version : How Do You Wash Your Face?

Just wondering, but how do you wash your face? Do you use a simple washcloth and water or do you use facial products? What facial products do you use and why? I use Suave's Foaming Facewash because it's inexpensive. I read somewhere that you should wash your face with cold water because it opens your pores and so I do that too.

Actually, warm/hot water opens pores and cold water closes them. I use whatever to clean my face. i'm not loyal to a brand. I tend to go back and forth between things from Carol's Daughter, Philosophies, Origins, and the drugstore! I'm not real picky, it just can't have a scent.

I wash my face with warm water and Noxema Triple Clean. It has really helped with my clogged pores.

I use Dove with a Buf Puf (extra gentle) for the little extra exfoliating effect that you can't get from a washcloth. I've been using these for so long that I don't feel clean with a washcloth. And then I rinse with warm water, pat dry, and while my skin is still damp, I use a good face cream on my entire face, paying close attention to the skin around my eyes. I've tried some of the other cleansers like Ponds, and my face doesn't feel 'clean' with them. I did use to use Noxzema when I was younger and loved it - loved the way it cleaned, the way it smelled. I think that's a wonderful cleanser for younger girls, it's been around for years and is still one of our favorites.

You're right 2boysmomma. I did some research and most websites recommend using warm water to open and declog the pores. Thanks for setting me straight girl!!

I don't follow a strict beauty routine and i don't wear makeup (appart from lipstick or lipbalm/gloss) so it's easy and quick to cleanse my face.

I also use warm water and cleans with Clarins Cleansing Milk as it's very gentle. Sometimes i use witchhazel in the morning after cleansing as it refreshes my face and other times i'll use cool water instead. Once or twice a week i'll exfoliate with Japanese Washing Grains from the Body Shop (they stopped selling it a while back, but i stocked up on it luckily!!). Once a week or so i might relax back with a mud mask.

There have been times i've just washed my face with warm water and then rinsed of in cool water before bed or going to work and i don't see a great difference as to when i actually use cleaning products. I think it depends on your skin type and whether or not you wear makeup daily.

Just a little warm water isn't going to open your pores. It takes a lot of heat to get them open. Think about how long you'd sit with your face in steam. I always use warm water because it's less of a shock to me.

I use Olay Daily Facials (they're wonderful) and follow up with gentle Clinique cleanser. I probably don't need two products, but I want my skin as clean as possible!

I use a thick washcloth and add a quarter-size amount of MD Forte III facial cleanser to get rid of all makeup and dead skin. I swear by it. Don't need to use though if you are a youngster - it's for "mature" skin. (I hate that word). I don't feel clean if I don't use a washcloth.

I wash my face with about a quarter size of MAC Everyday Lotion Cleanser. I first wet my face with warm water, then rub on the cleanser and rinse it off by splashing cool water on my face. A few times a week, when I take my morning shower, I'll use an exfoliating buff pad (for sensitive skin) with the lotion cleanser to exfoliate. With the MAC Everyday Lotion Cleanser, you can also just wipe it off with a tissue if you want, instead of rinsing it off...I assume that would be good if you have extremely dry skin. (My skin is normal)

Then I rub Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer (with SPF15) on my face. Under my eyes, I use Origins Eye Doctor eye cream.

Something must be working...I'm 44 years old, but most people guess that I'm about 35.

Use a facial toner. I use Fruit Cooler Refreshing Toner by Jason. It puts goodness into your skin while cleansing it, too. Feels refreshed, too.
