Hello everyone,

In the past, I had posted in this forum before, asking on behalf of a friend. Now, it's happened to me too!! Since I didn't write it down, I gotta ask again.

I've got a hemarroid sticking out (all squeezy & squashy) down there; it's about the size of a little fingernail.

1) Can I snip it off?
2) Is it permanent?
3) If there's surgery for it, what conditions are attached to it before the surgeon operates?

It irritates me to no end. Now I know how my friend & all fellow sufferers feel. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif

Thank you very much.

Hemorrhoids cannot be snipped off as you have no way to control the bleeding. Surgery can be done on them and there are various types of surgery for them. Unless they are really bothersome people don't always have them removed. If you would like to have yours removed then see your doc and he can set up an appointment with a surgeon if he feels surgery is appropriate. All that is needed is a pre-op physical which is done by your regular doc and a surgeon to do the surgery. Hopefully someone who has gone through some of the different treatment options for hemorrhoids will post more info for you.

Hemorrhoids are common, but it does not sound like you need surgery to me. My husband gets one every now and then and then they don't bother him for years (he's 51)

On the other hand, I am 40 and have had 5 children...I do need surgery.

I am not a doctor, but I think if you eat properly etc and limit your "toilet time" to about 10 min...you will get better and may never need surgery at all.

If you can gently push the hemorrhoid into the rectum, that often reduces the discomfort. Prep. H helps with pain, too. And make sure you clean yourself very well after a BM...those wet toilet wipes work great.

Hello,

Thank you for your replies.

With regards to "wet toilet wipes", I don't understand. Does it mean that the ordinary toilet paper one uses after each BM is insufficient? If so, what brand of wet toilet wipes is good?

U know what I feel about this hemarroid? I feel as if I got a tail. A human with a tail!! Hahahaa, how's that for laughter? :=)
