Most of my symptoms/tender spots are on my right side. My doctor suspects fibro, but wouldn't it affect my left side also? Just curious if any of you are one-siders too!

Sponsor pa235 11-01-2004, 08:46 PM Hi, My fibro was left sided only for years but has now progressed to my entire body. I would say the first 15 years it was left sided chest, breast, rib, neck, shoulder and arm. I was diagnosed 20 years ago, the last 5 are getting worse every day, getting new pain sites, new sensations, flares lasting longer and coming closer apart. Good luck, Linda Rorie 11-01-2004, 10:08 PM Linda - Thanks so much for replying! It actually encourages me that it can be only on one side. I have been suffering for two years with these symptoms, but only on one side, so I didn't believe it was fibromyalgia, and sometimes thinking of what else it might be scares me! I was interested in what you said about having it in your breast...I do too, just on the one side. Could you describe how it feels...I wish I knew for sure if that is why mine hurts sooo bad for weeks at a time. Thanks again for replying! pa235 11-01-2004, 10:25 PM Hi Rorie, Sometimes the pain is a fast shooting pain, other times It is sharp stabbing and last for awhile. It can feel like something is inside my breast twisting it but is also at times the entire breast just is painful. I also get sensations in my breasts and above the breast like my bra is too tight in a certain area, even with out a bra on. This dd is really unbelievable. I also get pain in the bra strap area that goes from my shoulder into th breast or goes in under my arm down the sides of my breast. I wish you the best, Linda Rorie 11-02-2004, 10:13 AM Thanks for replying again. I am sorry for the all the pain you are going through. Hope you have a particularly good week this week! noinwi 11-02-2004, 10:27 AM My symptoms also started on my left side (and also 20 years ago!), then after a couple of years started spreading to the rest of my body. It started in my left hip, then my right, then each shoulder, and on and on. Funny thing for an illness that's not supposed to be progressive. I have found, in my case anyway, that the pain can also shift from one area to another. Icefire 11-04-2004, 09:05 AM Same thing with me. I always had all of the pain on the left side until this recent flare up, now the pain is on both sides. Hope that helps. Chris |
