My sister (38) and I (male 35) have both been diaginosed with osteroporesis.
My sister is at -2.9 spine and -2.5 hips. I am at -2.5 spine and -3.2 hips. We have both been tested for hyperparathyroidism but the test came back as normal (on the upper level for calcium and pth however). We both have achy knees and elbows, tired, with minor headaches etc.. I have lost count of my major kidney stones (best guess around 20 stones all calcium phosphate) also I have irregular heart beats (on beta blockers). My sister doesn't know if she has had kidney stones nor does she have any heart problems.
I am on fosamax, my sister is going to Mayo Clinic for more tests in a couple of days, any help would be great! The only thing we can think of is that our bones didn't fully develop because our mother was on dilantin and phenobarbatial when she was pregent. Family history is another problem in all this. Any ideas on what we should be asking our doctors??????
