I bought a Solano Mini Flat Iron the other day (that is what the rep at Ulta recommended) and I'm not sure if I want to keep it or return it. The reason is because, the rep told me that the Solano's plates ARE ceramic, and it does say ceramic on the box. However, once I got it home and opened the box, I noticed that the heater is ceramic, but that the actual plates are sapphire. I did use the iron and the results were amazing. However, knowing that they are NOT ceramic plates disappoints me and I am considering exchanging it for a CHI.

Does anyone know anything about the Sapphire plates? Are they as good as the ceramic? Also, another thing I liked about the Solano is the plate temp which heats up to almost 400 degrees. Does anyone know how hot the CHI plates get?

Also, what should I be using in conjunction with the iron? I have heard the Biosilk Silk Therapy is good? Is that the best? Give me some opinions!

Thanks much!

Granted they cost about 120-130.00 dollars, the CHI is definitely the way to go. I have used it for quite some time now and it is absolutely amazing!!!!!

Hey Barton...I used to have a sapphire iron...it was the best and it never damaged my hair. My hair dresser had told me if I were to get any flat iron, I needed to find that one. It was like 4 years ago, and for the life of me I can't remember the brand now. I do remember it was over $200! So if you have a sapphire iron, by all means keep it:)
