Just wondering if anyone can tell me the procuedures when you are referred to an RE. I'm curious as to what they will do - will they require the same tests I've already had (HSG, lap, biopsy, sa)? We were referred to an RE today due to unexplained infertility. My doc said that there is no reason why I'm not getting pg. I'm also wondering what the cost of AI is - if anyone knows. I'm frustrated because I was hoping for drug therapy first and I know the RE may suggest and go with that procedure first - but I'm just curious as to information right now....
Thank you for your help. thanks --- jen

Hi,
I am not sure if your RE will make you do those tests again however i do know that usually
1.they test for infect. diseases. you and DH
2.Hormonal tests
The RE might put you on Clomid or Injectibles with IUI.
The cost for Injectables is about 60$ per vile most cycles are about 20 viles.
However your health Insurance might cover it.
The IUI could be anywere from 300-700.
The IVF is about 6000-7000 and another 2000 for the medication
Plus 500 for anest. and daily blood tests and ultra sounds might be additional.
But depending on your insurance and what state you live in they might cover the bloods and US as well as the medication.
hope this was helpful

sadened -
Thank you for your response. I really appreicate it. I was feeling lost and uncertain yesturday as we did our final test at the doctors (post-coital) and then he said that there is no reason why I can't get pg. I was so emotional and lost it. Thank goodness for dh.
The tests that you listed are fine with me - I just don't want to have to go through all the others again. They were not fun.
One other question - if everything is fine with me and dh just has low motility rate (50-60%) will clomid still an option? I ask because I'm not sure what all clomid does to offer help. I would be fine with this option - as clomid is coeverd under our insurance... but others aren't. Also, I know that something will come out of our pocket (expense wise) but IUI isn't all that expensive. Once we meet with the RE and see where he/she wants to go from here - I will have more answers to what my insurance covers.
Again - THANK you so much for your assistance. I truely appreciate it!!
Smiles & hugs - lots of babydust to you! Jen

Hi Jen,
Long time no hear!!!;)
I just wanted to write that I agree with everything S posted...but prices vary from state to state. But also if you are doiong IUI you will also have to pay for the SA/Wash too. Mine is $200. My other prices are alos cheaper then S posted.
Clomid is used with the IUI to get you to produce more targets "folicles, eggs" for DH's guys to hit. The chance for multiples is only 5% but with Injects it's 25%.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask!!!

Thanks Doreen.
I know it has been a long time since I posted, but it took us 2 months to get the post coital done. Big pain! I appreciate your words and thank you!
As everyone else has said - it is so hard to wait. The wait is the worst part of this whole thing - wait to get into the doc. Wait to see if your pg. Wait to see. Wait to see. I hate it! I know, I know - maybe God is trying to teach me patience. But, heck - We've been trying for two years now. I have patience. I teach kids with learning disabilites. I have the patience.
I am also frustrated with the fact that you see the women who aren't married or just go out one time and have sex - they get pg right away. But NO -- not us - those that want to be pg and have a family - can't. I don't get that at all!!! Sorry, I know Im rambling... just been a hard couple of days.
Thanks again. And Good luck to you! How is your journey going?
Have a great day - Smiles & Hugs - Jen
