Hi I wrote about a small hard bump right next to my aerola. I went t o the doctors and he said it was a sabaceous cyst and gave me some antibiotics. He said if it didnt go away in 2 weeks he would have a surgeon remove it. He said its caused by oil glands. Has anyone else every had one of these? I also went for a mamagram today I wonder if this will show on that. This is my 1rst mamagram in 3 years and I just turned 40 in March does that seem accurate?

unfortunatly i had one of these also. mine was closer to the bikini line and the first time i had it removed was largely in part of my making the dr. remove it. I get freaked out of any lumps and bumps  I was told it would probably come back. and it did. About a yr. after it came back (only about the size of a pea), i accidently nicked it while shaving (so tiny, i didnt even know i did it)
the next day i woke up and it grew to the size of golf ball. i went right to the dr. and she was the one who asked if i had been shaving. apparently the tinniest nick can cause a major infection. Normally these sebacous (oil) cyst are not dangerous, but if it bothers you that much, ask he or she to remove it. Hope that helps

Dee thanks for the reply I just finished my antibiotics and it did not make it go away. So I did what my gynagoligist said and called his office back. Now he is kinda scaring me he wants me to see a surgeon and see if they want to byopsi it or leave it alone or remove it. Im really confused cause when I seen him 2 weeks ago he said dont worry about cancer it is a sabacous cyst and if the antibiotics dont make it go away we would just remove it. I had a mamagram and it came back fine. He says this is on the skin so that was good. Although I really worry about everything and I had thought my mind was relieved. Now Im not sure what to think. I did read that they usually give antibiotics if they are inflamed which mine wasnt, so Im not sure why he gave me them in the first place. Yours wasnt on the aerola, have you ever heard of one there? Thanks.

no i have not, i just figured the were all the same. i have a client who has about 5 or 6 of them on her head. I just think they (the drs.) arent as concerend as we are. I know i get nervous at the sign of any bump, where ever it may be. If you dont feel comfortable with the way they are treating this, speak up or get a second opinion. Good Luck with everything and try not to worry
