My husband started taking Lexapro 3 days ago. He says that he feels kind of funny. Like having an odd "buzz" that comes and goes... kind of a foggy, dreamlike state. He says it's hard to explain. Anyway, we were just wondering if that was normal in the beginning. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Give it a couple of weeks and he won't or shouldn't feel that. I get that "buzz" feeling once in a great while. I think when I am relaxed I get it. I don't know why. It's better than having anxiety. lol

Thanks for the reply! I figured that after he's on it for a bit his body will adjust, and the "buzz" will fade away. He was just a little concerned, as this is the first SSRI he's been on... just wanted to be sure it was normal. Thanks again for your reply. :)

The first 2 weeks were hell for me but after that, I started to feel better, and now I feel great I have been on Lexapro sinse Jan of this year. Its a really good drug for anxiety IMO Just give it time, your brain needs to get used to the drug.
Hope this helps

The 6th week for me was HELL with anxiety. I quit cold turkey and the day after I quit my anxiety was a bit lower into the tolerable zone. But before that it was a very good drug for anxiety...I dont know what happened... :(

I'm a 44 yr old guy taking 20mg of lexapro since may.
The side effects I'm experiencing are a loss of libido/sexual function and a
30 pound weight gain. Just a warning. I'm going to ask my doc to change
me to something else. I want my sex life back.

I know what you mean. My hubby is already getting the sexual side effects (and so am I! :( ). He's been on the Lexapro 6 days now. Already it's helping alot for his mood and he's much calmer than before, but I hate the side effects! Seems that I'm more concerned about it than he is at this point. But, I know in time it'll start driving him mad. We've always had a good sexlife, and I do not want that ruined! I want him to ask the doc about trying Wellbutrin. I've heard that it has a much lesser risk of the sexual side effects. Anyone out there know if thats true??

I have been on lexapro for about 6 months now and I am a changed person. I am much more outgoing and easy to be around. The downside is that I have gained 15 pounds and diet and exercise hasn't changed. I did have the buzz like you were talking about in the beginning, but that didn't last long. I think this is a great drug for people who can stand to gain some weight.
