My father found out in September that he has Cirrhosis of the Liver. He was Jaundice and his stomach was bloated. He could not have his stomach drained because he platelet counts were low. They were afraid he would bleed to death. He has not had a drink since they told him he had this. They gave him medicine for the swelling and put him on a no salt diet.
Will his liver heal now that he stopped drinking?
The doctor seems to think he will need a transplant.
Please if you have experienced this let me know what happen. Does anyone in this far gone ever get right again without a transplant?

Take a look at www.liverfoundation.org. You should also look at Natural Therapies, www.lef.org. This is a non profit organization. Obtain there health manual (Disease Prevention & Treatment) which thoroughly covers Chirrosis. I'm a long term drinker with some liver damage and I'm using an all natural approach as described in this manual. For the past 20 years, I've been taking enomous amounts of vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, antioxidants and supporting nutrients which may have kept me from getting full blown Chirrosis. Consulting with a top notch Nutritionist is very, very highly recommended. Doctors treat illnesses with drugs and surgery which is all they know. This is called conventional medicine. Nutritionist use an all natural approach to treat illnesses. This means a strict vegetarian diet which includes juicing (beet, dandellion, carrot are best for the liver) and large amounts of supplements. Also look at a Microbiotic Diet. Many have been known to cure themselvers of cancer using this diet. Good Luck.
