HI . my name is debbie . my son tristin was hit by a semi when he was 9 .
resulting in a brain injury . my child has had to relearn everything all over again . we are almost 7 yrs post and still have a long way to go .
due to the many areas in his brain that were/are injured we have incountered many of the same issues as ADHD .
we bought a biofeedback program we use at home . it was costly .! ( isnt everything  ) anyway ... its a program unit that you use on your computer . the unit has games that SLOW the brain down . ninetendo games are great for our children , however the brain plays the games with a high frequency . this program called PLAY ATTENTION . has games that teaches the brain to slow the brain down . thats what ADHD is .. its so simple.. you can try your children on all the drugs you want to , but its like putting a rug to cover the dirt .. the dirt is still there . my point is the brain NEEDS to LEARN to slow down itself .. without the drugs .. its reteaching the brain ..
the brain is a funny thing ... believe me I have done so much research , but I am not a dr I am just a mom ....
I am not trying to sell this to anyone .. but I just wanted to let you know there are many things out there to help our children .
this unit is so cool .. your child hast to sit in front of the computer and play games using his/her brain .. 15/20 minutes a day .
you can do a search on this program .. PLAY ATTENTION >
if you have any questions I will help. tristin has come a LONG way . due to many things . LOVE being the most important ..
your child cannot help the way he/she acts their sweet little brains are going just to fast . have a nice day .............

So sorry to hear what happened to your son.My son fell off a moving car and landed on his head back this past July.God it was sooo scary. He was in the PICU in a coma and on a vent for about a week and ended up in the hosp for about a month.i can so relate to what you are going through and my heart goes out to you.I cannot even imagine what your son must be having to deal with after being hit by a semi.I am rather interested in what you were talking about in your post.My son has the most problems still(and is still going to therepy)to try and get a handle on his executive decision making and knowing the difference from right and wrong. It is so bizarre to talk to him about certain things when there is a definite line between what is right and wrong but he just does not get it,you know?I was just shocked at the aggressive change in his personality after the accident. He was not 'there"for quite some time. But slowly, little by little, we started to see "him" come back.He suffered the most damage(brain bleed from concussion)in the frontal lobe of his brain. He also had a double skull fracture at the base of his head and up the back. That all seems to have healed now or is getting there.Just what were the extent of your sons injuries?I am so happy for you that you have found something that is really working for your son.it really does make alot of sense in just what it tries to do for the brain.I hope things continue to improve for your son.Marcia
