I have been taking 1200mg of asacol for about 2 months now
I have been have ringing in the ears. and I have not found on other sites that this is a known side effect. of course it still could be a side effect it just hasn't been reported.
So has anyone experienced ringing in the ears ??
Also I was just diagnosed with UC. all the website are confusing with their information.
What are the symptoms of UC..
I notice I am always tired, crampy stomach, one day I cant eat at all and the next day I could eat the entire house. :) and then the typical diarrhea/constipation. Bloody stools., the achy back and muscles.
but, I'm just tired of being tired. I'm a full time student and there are days where I just want to blow off school and stay home and rest/sleep..
I did go to the ob/gyn and I was checked for anemia and it came out negative. I will be making an appointment with my family doc. to discuss my UC with him.
Thanks for listening

well the bad news is that you will probably stay tired, forever. I have had UC for five years and most of the time i am exhausted. As for the asacol, i started taking it about 5 months ago and it has helped alot, no ringing in the ears though. You might want to try takign some folic acid and iron anyway, it helps some.

i've had UC for about a year now... and it really differs from one person to the other. some people may experience these symptoms (tiredness, etc) all the time, but others may not.

personally i haven't had many problems at all with my UC, other than the initial symptoms (blood, cramps, etc.) that led to my diagnosis. i was put on Asacol and haven't had any problems since.

as for the ringing in the ears, nope, i haven't had that problem. you might want to ask your doctor about that.

but keep your spirits up. once you find the treatment that works best for you, it's entirely possible to reduce your symptoms to a minimum and go on living a normal life.
