Hi,
I had lasik done 4 months agao. I had uncomfortable feeling wearing contact lens. I didn't know that is because of dry eyes.
One months after lasik, I flew and then.. my eyes got red and burned like hell.
I had very severe dry eyes. Seen 10 doctors so far. Try almost everything. Plugs, tons of drops, gel, ointment, antibiotic eye drop, cannot make me feel better at all. Just start doxycycline for a week. Will see what happen?
I don't know when this dry eyes problem will go away. Will it finally go away? Please share yr experiences.

I had LASIK less than one week ago. During my pre-op appointment, I was told my eyes tend to be slightly dry. The doctor recommended taking flaxseed oil. One in the morning and one in the evening.

Hi, I had Lasik last Thanksgiving 2003, yes, 1 year ago. I still have dry eye. I don't regret doing the Lasik though. I used drops over the past year, kept them by my bedside because during the night I'd awake to eyes so dry I could HEAR them open. I should have went back to the doctor, but didn't. I went recently for my 1 year checkup and he said they are very dry. I don't have enough "oil" in my tears, my eye is drying up in between blinks. He prescribed Restasis. They are drops that you put twice a day. They are prescription only. My insurance paid for them, but I think they are pretty expensive. I've used them for about 5 weeks now, along with taking flaxseed oil and I am better. I'm hoping to be able to wean myself off of the drops at some point, I hope it's not a life-long thing that I'll have to be taking these eye drops. But, you know what? It's STILL a heck of a lot better than wearing contacts. I'm happy. Good luck to you.

Hi there. I had Lasik 4/2000 and had dry eyes intermittently for a couple of years following. They weren't as severely dry as yours seem to be, but I did regularly need to use some of the thicker drops and then the ointment at bedtime. The dryness has subsided and I actually haven't used any drops at all in the past year to year and a half. So no, I don't think you are necessarily doomed to a lifetime of dry eyes.. good luck!

Is your vision blurry do to your dry eyes(night glare and so on) or did that eventually subside?

Yes, I had a decrease in my vision sharpness, I thought my eyes were reverting back to what they were before but the doctor said I still had 20/15 vision and that the dryness was what was causing the fuzziness. Now that my eyes are well lubricated again I have awesome vision. I'm glad that the Restasis helped me. I also LOVE Allergan's "Refresh Liquigel" lubricant eye drops. The doctor gave it to me (you can buy it at the grocery store) to use for the few weeks it took for the Restasis to kick in. Now I don't use it anymore, but it was a lifesaver to me before the Restasis started working.
Good luck to you. :)

My eyes are so dry that I have a unfortable feeling all day. It is a weird feeling. My eyes are very sticky. Nothing can help me feel better at all. My eyelids rub my eyes so that I feel pain in my eyes. I wake up with red eyes every day.
I have a headache because of the irritation too.
Recently, I start having starbust at night (six months after lasik)

I used the artificial tears for a couple of months... eventually I got to the point where I wasn't needing them any more; it was gradual. It has been a year and a half and I dont have a problem with dry eyes now at all... :)

I had lasek surgery a couple of years ago and suffered identical problems to tris. My eyes were gritty, dry, light sensitive. I had months of misery and antidepressants. I realise now that I had dry eyes before to operation as I couldnt wear contacts for long, didnt like car heaters etc. The eye clinic after care was rubbish the surgeon avoided me. Eventually took myself to the eye ward at the local hospital(fortunately I work there) The doctor looked under my eyelids (which no one had done before) she could see inflammation. I had two weeks of oral antibiotics and 1 week of steriod eye drops which finally seemed to be the turning point for me. It took about a year. I still have dry eyes and assume I always will, I get what I call little water blisters on my inner eyelid rims when I am tierd or in dry atmospheres and I think having dry eyes makes me feel more tierd. I have to be careful not to rub them too hard when I wake up in the mornings as there is little lubrication. I dont suffer with any horrible gritty discomfort anymore.

Tris,
Your situation sounds like mine I flew three weeks after surgery and I have been in pain ever since. When on meds to cope and then got off them because of the drying effect. Wanted to know if things have gotten better for you. I have no life at this point I ama part time teacher Thank God cause I barely m,ake it through 3 classes. I also wanted to know if anyone has gone on pain meds for the pain and what kind because of the meds all effecting your eyes. Peggy

Hi, I was reading this post and I have a similar feeling to some of you in my right eye. I had Lasik 3 weeks ago and my right eye is now burning like heck! I'm using all the drops, gels, etc. nothing really helps for long. What should I do? Any advice welcome...
Have any of your dry eyes improved. I now realize that I probaley had dry eyes before the surgery and didn't realize it. I wish that one of my reg. eye doctors had dectected it. Do you think that since a reg. doctor didn't comment on it that my dry eyes were mild before surgery? I'm grasping at straws!

I'm one month post-Lasik and am also having severe dryness. I, like many others, could have had slight dry eye prior to surgery. I hated wearing contacts...by the end of the day my eyes were so tired and dry. This dryness that I'm experiencing now is multiple times greater than the dryness that I experienced with contacts.
Most articles concerning post-Lasik dryness seem to indicate that the majority of cases are cleared up within 6 months to a year. However, I have not found any articles concerning permanent dryness.
The drops just don't seem to do the trick. However, I was given a pair of goggles (moister chamber goggles) after the surgery and I found that whenever I wear them, I don't have any issues. Get yourself a pair if the drops aren't working. It really isn't practical to wear goggles everywhere, but wear them when you can and you'll definitely notice a difference. I'm curious to hear any updates on those that haven't written for some time.

I went to the dr. today for a check-up. I'm about 5 weeks out of Lasik. My doctor said to expect for my eyes to SLOWLY improve over the next 3 or so months. Recover is a slow process, but he thinks my eyes will recoup. I'm going to see about the moisture goggles b/c my eyes are the most dry in a little line accoss the front. That is the area that is most exposed during the day and night (I might be sleeping with my eyes open a bit). I really hope that my doctor is right and that my eyes get back to normal. I can't wait!

After a couple more weeks, I am noticing a big improvement. There is hope. The dryness/burning only occurs at the end of the day for me and I can usually make it through most of the day without any discomfort.
I am a huge advocate of moisture goggles...I found that the drops actually made my eyes worse. I read in a few places that using the artificial tears frequently can worsen the dry eye problem for some people, and in those cases alternative approaches should be determined. For me, the goggles kept my eyes moist and comfortable and most of the time I would not feel the need for drops. As soon as I removed them...within 5 minutes or so my eyes would get so irritated that I could barely keep them open. I can't give any advice on where to buy them as I was given a pair from my surgeon.
They are called Duo-Shades and should be fairly inexpensive ($10-$15). After 6 weeks, my eyes are feeling so much better, so for those of you out there with early post-lasik dry eye know that there is hope. It does get better.

I am 45 years old and it has been 20 days since I had lasik on both of my eyes. I have had such an improvement in my vision! I left the post-op evaluation with 20/20 vision and have just marveled at everything I could see even though on day one there was such a haze and my eyes were soooo dry. I have used all the moisture drop samples that Dr. Cook's clinic in Vicksburg, Mississippi gave me and have now bought more at our local Walmart. I am wondering about the gel that is also sold? How does that work? Also...it seems like in the morning I go through extra blurry on some days and not on some days. Does the off and on blurriness improve? And...I am having such great distance vision but, my close up vision requires reading glasses. I can not even read the songbook at church without my glasses. Has anyone experienced an improvement with close up reading problems? I was sure glad to find this message board and I wish you all the best! ~Mommagoose in Mississippi

mommagoose,
Congratulations on your new vision. I can tell you from my experience that the blurriness does get better. I had a problem with it for about the first 2 or more months. I can't remember how long. Basically, if I could lubricate the heck out of my eyes, the blurriness would subside. Just be patient. The Blurriness is normal because your peepers are still healing. It takes quite some time for them to completely heal. I am almost 9 months post-op and mine are still healing. The surgery we had isn't like a surface wound on our skin. It takes some time longer to heal. And, your eyes will heal at different rates. Your left may be magnificent one day while your right eye is giving your some blurriness and, the next day, your right may be great and your left may give you issues. And, it can even vary hour to hour. Just keep that in mind and you should feel confident!
Congrats again on your first 20 days of new vision!
Keep in touch!

Hating Glasses,
I know that you had some dry eye problems similar to mine and I wanted to ask if you ever experienced any light sensitivity or problems with glare after surgery. I am now about 2 months out and my eyes are still really dry. I am dealing with this but I am having some strange feeling effects from it. My eyes often feel sore and achy and so do my eyelids - like they are heavy. I also get headaches sometimes and or little pains that shoot through my eyes/head if I look at something funny or maybe something really bright. I told my dr. about these things, he just seemed to think it was all dry eye stuff. Did you have ANY problems like these? If so could you let me know what symptoms you may have had. This has been worrisome for me b/c I don't know if anyone has experienced similar things.
Thanks a bunch!

mkrich5649,
I don't remember having problems with glare or light. As for the glare in the evening, I have always had that problem and it got better after my surgery. When my eyes get dry (usually starting around 2 in the afternoon on the week days) my eyelids get heavy and I can hear them when I blink. My husband looked at me like I was nuts but, if you have ever had eyes that dry, you have probably heard it. I can't remember if you are here in GA or not. If you are, I would be happy to give you my regular eye docs name. I just went to see him (as instructed by my lasik doc) to get my new sight on the record. Anyway, this is the first time I have been to this doctor and, I really like him. He had Lasik some years ago and had some pretty extreme complications so, he is very knowledgeable about Lasik both as kind of a Lasik Liason and a former patient. If you are in Georgia, he is in the Cumming area (Moderator...that is a real city in Georgia so please don't delete or censor it).
My eyes are still very dry. They are better on the weekends which makes me think that the week day problems are either environmental or computer related. I am using the Refresh Celluvisc Lubricant Eye Drops right now. I swear that I have tried about half of the different kinds of drops that are out there. The Celluvisc seems pretty good. It is even thicker than the other gels which is probably why it works as well as it does for the dry eye.
When you went to your doctor, did he look really thoroughly at your eyes? My new doc looked all around both eyes to see how my flaps were healing. He found that my left eye has some epithileals (sp) that are raising the edge on the flap and that could be part of the problem. I told him that occassionally I have some pain in that eye (like there is an eyelash in there) and he asked me to see him if it happens again so that he can make sure that it isn't an ablasion (I think that is what he said) which can be bad and get worse if untreated with an anti-inflammatory and I think an anti-biotic.
I really don't want to tell you to find a new eye doc but, if you are experiencing pain and your doctor is telling you that it is merely dry eye, you might want to seek a second opinion. Perhaps try to find a doc in your area (if you aren't in Georgia and can't try mine) who works with patients who have had Lasik.
Just to remind you that I am almost 9 months post op and, the dry eye is an issue but, not all together unusual this far post-op. And, any changes in your vision can happen as much as 18 months post-op. You continue to heal for that long. Try to be patient. I know it is hard. But, along with being patient, make sure you get the best post-op care you can get. Find a good regular eye doctor that is well versed in the ups and downs of post-op lasik surgery. I lucked out! My new reg eye doc is around the corner from where I live and that was my reason for going to him. I like him so far. He sat down with me for about a half hour, if not longer, and really took the time to get to know my eyes, asked me lots of questions about what I was feeling, and just really seemed to care that I got the best eye care for my money!
Please forgive the length of this post! I tend to get really wordy!
Keep me posted and let me know if you are in GA and interested in seeing my doc.

Dear Hating Glasses,
I live in North Ga. also and I would LOVE the name of your doctor. I have been looking for a good doctor to go to for a second opinion and I only live about 30 minutes away from Cumming. My surgery was a little more than 2 months ago (first week of July.)
I have been SO worried about my eyes - it's all I can think about. They have felt bad since the day that I had surgery and I have only seen little bits of improvement since then. Mine feel dry and kind of sore when I wake up in the morning, even though I'm using a lubricant at night. Then, during the day I have to use drops (BION tears) every 1-2 hours. This has been so hard to deal with while working full time, sometimes I just want to stay at home in the bed and not leave my house. My eyes also get tired during the day and kind of sore when they're having a really bad day, sometimes my eyelids feel like they don't want to open well. It seems like my eyes feel itchy and scratchy all day everyday with no real relief. Somedays are better than others but my eyes never feel normal and it's really wearing on me. I'm getting desperate for some real relief. My lasik doctor doesn't really seem to be all that concerned... he never really examines my eyes closely... just tells me they are dry and sends me on my way. I have been told that healing can take about 6 months, but I really don't feel like they are getting any better.
Do you remember how your eyes felt 2-3 months along? I get really scared sometimes because they just seem so irritated all of the time. Sometimes they only feel scratchy, sometimes they feel like something is in them (like sand!), and sometimes they feel like they are burning. I am trying to be optimistic about my healing, but sometimes it is so hard - I'm starting to regret having lasik done.
Did the doctors at Lasik Plus ever mention to you that you had cells under your flap?? The doctors are nice, but a lot of times I feel very rushed when I have to see one of them.
Sorry, to pour out all of my worries to you... and sorry to write you a book. It just feels good know that someone is close by and they have been through the same things as me. It's easy to feel very alone when dealing with this problem. Anyway, thanks again for sharing your thoughts with me - I really would like the name of your doctor - maybe I can schedule an appt. soon.
Thanks!

Missy,
My eye docs name is Dr. Mark S. Wiggers. He is off exit 13 on GA 400. If you google him type - in quotes "dr. mark wiggers" and you can hit the site 6 sites down that starts off Absolute Eye Care:: Dr. Mark Wiggers. Absolute Eye Care is the name of his practice. It even says Consultation Advice for Lasik Laser Surgery. I really like him. The doc at Lasik Plus did not tell me about my cells under my flap but, he never really gave my eyes such a throrough look at any of my post-op visits. Dr. Wiggers spent about a minute each eye just shining that light and moving back and forth about an inch away from my face to get a good look at my flaps. He said my right one is doing really well but, the left isn't great.
2-3 months post op I was still really dry. I was having to use drops roughly every 15 minutes to an hour so, they have gotten better. I don't want to say that you and I have exactly the same situation because, I don't seem to have the kind or extent of pain that you are talking about. But, that was also several months ago for me and, I tend to have a pretty poor memory.
Don't worry about pooring anything out. That is what this board is for. We have all been through a really important and life altering surgery and anything we can do for one another to help soothe nerves is exactly what this board is for.
You can also find my eye docs number in the Cumming Dawsonville phone book under O for Optometrists. His is the first one you will see - Absolute Eye Care.
Good luck and keep me updated!

Thanks Cortney! I was able to find Dr. Wiggers address and phone number easily on the internet. I am going to call and see about booking an appointment with him.
My eyes felt OK today - At this point I usually have to use my drops about every 1-2 hours, which is a lot better than it was the first couple of weeks after my surgery (I felt like I was ALWAYS putting them in.) The worst part for me is that my eyes just feel itchy and scratchy most of the day - It's a yucky feeling. I think that one thing that was making my eyes a little sore is that I was using the Moisture Eyes at night but then if I woke up I was putting some of my reg. drops in on top of it. I think I was just washing the ointment out and it was leaving my eyes to dry out and feel bad. The last two nights I put in more ointment when I woke up during the night and my eyes felt a little bit better this morning. Does the celluvisc blurr your vision for a while after you put it in? Are you using it at night?
I would just like to say that I think you have done a really great job of dealing with this problem and not letting it stress you out! Thanks for all your help!

Missy,
I am glad you were able to find Dr. Wiggers' info. I think you might be pleased with him.
I'm glad to hear that your eyes feel better today. The celluvisc does make you a little blurry for probably less than a minute due to the viscosity (sp). And, I do use it at night as well. I put in 2 drops per eye. I noticed that my eyes seems to feel worse when I was using the ointment. I even thought it was in my imagination so, I tried it again one night and the next day was a really bad one.
Thank you for the compliment. And, no problem about the help. I was worried my first few months and, can't say that I don't worry that this will be a permanent condition for me but, as I have seen changes for the better and the worse throughout my healing time, I am positive that it will all remedy itself with time and the best thing that I can do is just make sure that my eyes have the right amount of moisture to keep healing well.
Keep in touch and let me know about how your visit with Dr. W goes if you do see him.

Hi Cortney, I posted this is the other thread but I also copied it here so that you could find it. :)
You may be right about some of our eye stuff being allergy related. Since our eyes are already tender they may be more impacted by the environmental stuff around us. (Do your sinuses ever seem dried out also? Sometimes when my eyes feel dry, my whole head will feel dry.)
My eyes started off feeling OK today but tonight they feel lousy. I went to the doctor today for a check-up, not at lasik plus but at another doctor here more locally. I've been to him once before... I just wanted someone to check out my eyes and make sure I wasn't getting an infection or something. He looked in my eyes and seemed pretty surprised by how dry they are. They feel really gritty and yucky. Most of the grittiness seems to be behind my eyelids and when I blink, it is very irritating. He gave me an anti-inflammatory drop to use for a week. Maybe that will help out a bit! I'm scared by how dry my eyes feel sometimes... I really thought that they were starting to improve a little bit but know they are back almost as bad as before. I think that I may try some of the celluvisc drops that you are using - I have some that I bought one time. How often are you having to use them during the day? Do you stick to a schedule or just use them when your eyes feel bad?
I wanted to ask you about another thing... At Lasik Plus do you remember if they did any dry eye tests before your surgery. I don't really remember them even asking me many questions about whether I had ever had dryness in my eyes. Because of this I'm afraid that maybe I had dry eyes before (My eyes would sometimes get a little dry in contacts, and when I would wake up in the middle of the night they would feel kind of sore and hard to open - I always thought this was contact lense irritation b/c in the morning they would be back to normal) and that now I may have irritated the condition and it will never go away! Scary thought!
Thanks!

Missy,
When I wake up in the morning, I am usually really stuffy and I have been really sneezy for several weeks now.
Lasik Plus did not seem to check me for dryness and, I did tell them that there were times when I was in contacts that I was having dryness but, that wasn't constant and that is why they didn't seem concerned.
I use the celluvisc whenever I feel my eyes getting dry. So, I use it in the morning, when I get up, throughout the day, right before I close my eyes, if I wake up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and after I hit my snooze button. But, I have been told both by my new eye doc and the doc at LP that I need to use it whether I feel dry or not because I may be dry and just not be feeling it yet.
I am a little frustrated with the dryness today. I'm not really dry right now but, I know the annoyance that is to come later in the late afternoon, early evening and, I can't get into being patient with it today. But, I'll just try to get over it! Hehehe!

Cortney,
I told Lasik Plus similar things... my eyes would feel somewhat irritated/dry during allergy season and if I ever fell asleep or took a shower with my contacts in then they would feel dry. I also had some irritation at night if I would wake up in the middle of the night my eyes would feel sore. I always just attributed this to contact irritation and so did my reg. doctor. I was never told that my eyes were dry, but now I think that they were. My lasik plus doctor didn't seem at all concerned by anything I told him and so I guess I wasn't either... now I wish that I had gotten a second opinion before having the surgery. Maybe my eyes were too dry.
I used some of the Celluvisc this morning and I'm going to use it this afternoon when my eyes really start feeling tired. I think that I'm going to use the drops a lot more for a couple of days and see if that (along with the anti-inflammatory) will help. I'm also going to up my dosage of flaxseed oil.
I get frustrated with my eyes a lot! I hope that your day goes well and that your eyes stay moist! Is it hard to deal with this while you work or is your work environment OK?
Have a great day!!

Missy,
Right now, my eyes are fine. If they stayed this way all day, I would be really pleased. Basically, they feel this good during the weekends and like crud starting around 4 or 5 in the evening and they stay that way until I take my shower. Sometimes they revert back to being dry about a half hour or so after my shower and stay that way until I go to bed. I remember a period of time where I wasn't experiencing this problem of the 4 or 5 till shower or bed time dryness at all. I would get a little blurry and slightly dry later in the evening but, it was never anything all that horrible. So, I don't really understand why it has gotten worse in the past couple months. I keep trying to sum it down to something. But, I haven't figured that out yet.
I started taking the flax seed again. Hopefully that will start to kick in and get things straightened out. I don't know if it is appropriate to say this but, I stopped my birth control a couple of months ago and am wondering if the change in my chemistry may be why my eyes are out of wack right now. I am hoping that that is what triggered this issue. I didn't really think about it until just a moment ago as I sat here trying to go back in my head to when the extra dryness started happening and, see if I started doing anything differently back then. The first thing I thought about was that I started drinking lots of water a couple months ago. But, that should be hydrating me, not drying me out. Then, it hit me that I stopped my BC around the same time.
As for my work environment, there is an AC vent on the ceiling and behind my left shoulder. My left eye is my bad one but, given the fact that my eyes were doing fairly well before, I can't blame all of it on the vent. I can't close it either, which is annoying. Most of my dryness starts in my car on my way home from work. I might start to keep a diary of what I am feeling in my eyes day to day, hour by hour to see if I can narrow anything down.
I hope you start having better days with the celluvisc. I might go back to trying the Systane but, I remember having to practically hook up an I.V. of Systane, I was using so much of it. Then, I stopped using the Systane and started using Refresh Liguigel. Then I started experiencing more dryness so, I tried something else and the major dryness started to subside. This has me baffled but, I really believe that it will eventually work itself out.
I hope that you start feeling better with the celluvisc.

Cortney,
I have been keeping a journal, but it has been very broad - mainly just a log of my appointments. I've also been thinking of keeping a more detailed journal, but I haven't started one yet. If I did it then I could take it too my doctor and let him read it.
I wonder if stopping the birth control would have caused your eyes to be more dry. Shouldn't it cause them to be less dry since BC is said to sometimes cause the dryness?? I have been thinking about stopping my birth control to see if it might help relieve a little bit of the dryness.
I used the Celluvisc this morning when I got up and I'm going to use it this afternoon when I get home and tonight before I go to bed. I'm going to try it along with my regular drops b/c it is really thick and kind of hard for me to use at school.

I thought the same thing about the BC but, I think that since I was on it for 8 years, getting myself off of it may have really thrown my body chemistry off so much that all my chemicals are in chaos and that might be why I am having problems. I know that most women's eyes change with pregnancy and I would imagine that BC might do much the same thing. I wish I were a doctor sometimes so I could understand some of this stuff better. I don't even know who I would call to ask such a question. Eye doc, obgyn? Both, neither! Hehehe!
Let me know how things are progressing with the celluvisc.

I don't know who you'd ask! LOL! I did call up my doctor one day and ask him about the birth contol affecting my eyes and their shape... he didn't seem at all concerned. He told me that if my eyes regressed then I could get an enhancement. Nice, huh! Are you planning on starting back on the BC to get things back on track. I'm still trying to decide if I want to stop taking it. It would be worth it if it helped my dry eyes even a teeeny bit. Heck, if it would help my eyes I'd probably eat worms! HaHa :D

Missy,
No way! I am not getting back on BC. I have just found so many other reasons to stay off of it and so many good changes in my body since I got off of it.
My eyes are really good today. I feel so slightly eye lashy in my left eye that it is barely even noticeable and it was worse in the beginning of the week than now. One thing that I notice that helps me is using the Celluvisc sometime in the middle of the night. I usually have to get up to go to the bathroom so, I just use it when I crawl back into bed. I put it in, dab my eyes with a tissue, close them and go back to sleep. If I remember to do it in the haze of middle of the night grouginess, I feel much better in the AM after I put the drops in when I hit snooze and then when I actually get up, and throughout the day. And, it seems that my right eye is starting to feel better in the AM now that I am using the celluvisc. So, maybe it takes a few days to really start working its magic. My left is still a dry crispy critter of a bear in the AM. But, 2 drops of the celluvisc seems clears it up pretty quickly. I hate how expensive the celluvisc is but, it seems to be helping and that is worth it to me. Dr. Wiggers was the one who mentioned it to me. He asked me if I had ever tried it. So, I thought I would. He never actually said to do so, but, I figured that he must have tried it after his Lasik and liked it. So, who better to trust then someone who has been through post-lasik issues?
Anyway, I hope you have a great weekend. Try going completely natural for the weekend if you can. No makeup, no baby shampoo, nothing but the eye drops (whether you feel you need them or not) and see how you feel over the weekend and on Monday. I think that I am going to drag out my humidifier this weekend since the hubby stopped using it at the beginning of Spring and I really think that the house is too dry. Regardless of what he thinks...hehehe!
Anyway, Happy Friday!

I'm going to schedule an appt. with Dr. Wiggers next month during my fall break. It is very hard for me to get off work right now and I've been seeing a reg. doctor here - he has me on the Lotemax (anti-inflammatory) and I want to see that through before I go to another doctor.
Cortney - Did you ever notice that you had dry eyes before your surgery? Did you have any symptoms of dry eyes before? My doctors always ask me this and I now think that I may have had a bit of dry eyes and just never really realized what it was.
I used some of the Celluvisc today and yesterday. I'm using it 3 times a day and using my other drops in between. My eyes have felt pretty good today so that's good!

Missy,
I remember having dry eyes occassionally. Mostly with contacts but, since there was a period of time for about about a year and a half where I was wearing my contacts without major issues, I just figured that I had to have the perfect pair in order to keep them comfy. I also have a space heater that I keep below my desk at my feet and, my eyes would get dry now and than from that but, nothing I couldn't handle. Otherwise, I didn't really ever notice it as an issue.
I'm glad to hear that it sounds like the celluvisc is working for you. I do notice that it seems to work best for me if I don't use anything but the celluvisc. I know that it can be a bit of a pain at work or in public but, it is very temporary.
I also dragged out my humidifiers over the weekend and my eyes felt better throughout the middle of the night when I got up to use the bathroom. I really think a large part of the problem is how moist the air is around you.
I hope you had a comfy eye weekend. Mine were really good all weekend.

Hi Cortney,
I had a good weekend too! The anti-inflammatory that the doctor gave me made a big difference the last day or two. My eyes still feel really dry but it got rid of the gritty, scratchy, and sore feeling. Love it! I really hope that my eyes don't go back to feeling horrible the second I stop taking it. That would be yucky.
I didn't ever really think much of my eyes being dry before surgery either. I just attributed everything to contact irritation. Hopefully, they weren't too bad and once they heal will get back to normal.
I think that I need to clean my humidifier more often... I opened it last night and the filter was yucky! Eeewww! I threw it away and I've got to buy a new one. I don't need mold spores in my bedroom on top of everything else! LOL!
I'm glad you had a good weekend!

Glad to hear your eyes are doing better. How long were you on the Lotemax before you noticed an improvement? I've been on it for one week so far but no change.
How are your eyes today?

I started the Lotemax last Wednesday so I've been on it one week. It has helped with the gritty scratchy feeling, but my eyes still feel dry. I'm going to the dr. this afternoon for a check-up and I guess he'll be able to tell if it's really helping.
My eyes feel pretty good today. I'm still using drops at least every two hours and they feel dry, but they don't hurt or feel gritty right now. How do your eyes feel today? Are you still using the drops very often?
