dave,
you responded to my post last week regarding ETHEX GENERIC OXYCODONE
I have been in bad shape the past 10 days, very restless legs and much back pain.i checked ethex web site and according to the product id my rx was filled as 5mg oxycodone.orange round /ETH 315
my rx is supposed to be 15mg.
i dont even think ethex makes a 15 mg pill
please confirm this is what happened before i call the pharmacy.they probably filled it as 5mg instead of 15.i just dont want to look like an ***.
i havent been sleeping much at all and i think this is what happened

Hey Scott, Ethex doesn't make the generic equivelent to the 15 and 30 mg Roxicodone, You can get name brand or generic by Amide pharma or Mallinckrodt.
You got skewed if your script said 15mg oxy or roxi. Those are the 5's.
They are not even allowed to substitute 3 times as many 5's for he 15's and what you got were the 5's.
I would take the pills up to the Pharmacy to show them, It says on the bottle what they dispensed too, what does the bottle say?
Good luck, Dave

thank you dave,
they didnt substitute 3 pills they filled it for the same amount as if it were 15mg.
and ive been talking with my wife the past week about going ahead with surgery because the meds dont seem to be working anylonger.
i even called the pharmacy after i picked up the rx because the description didnt match the pills and the pharmacist said its a new generic.
thanks again scotty

These are all the makers the FDA has listed that make the 15's and 30's. Ethex doesn't make a 15mg oxy tab.

HEy Scot, If they give you a hard time threaten to call the Board of pharmacy, a misfill on a C-11 is a very big deal, specially when you even specifically asked them to check because you felt it was wrong. That's a dangerous pharmacist that doesn't even bother to check.
Good luck and let me know what happens. Ideally they should give you a full new bottle of the 15's, that's what you paid for and not what you got.
Did they bill your insurance? insurance fraud!!! You have lots of recourse and can get it resolved today by calling your state board of pharmacy. Ask them how many other people they dispense meds 1/3 the strength and take the 15mg Roxi that should not be there now, home? The 15mg count is now off and their 5mg count is now off. It's Not something they want investigated You have all kinds of angles of attack on this.
Good Luck, Dave

thanks again dave,
i just got off the phone with the pharmacist and they would not stop apologizing.they said they will replace them for me today.
now ive been taking an extra pill every night since i picked them up due to pain and lack of sleep.should they just swap for the same number i have?
or replace the whole rx?
i will be short now for a few days at the end of the month if they just do an even swap?
should i ask for something in writing so i have recourse with my pain dr if need be?

slightly off subject, since I was reading this post....I remember this one time when I got Rx for Percocet 5 mg, and inside there where 2 diff. kinds of pills.
- 54/543
- 512
Those where their imprint codes, I looked them up that day, and they both where the same meds, just diff company. Now can the Pharmacy do that? Is that normal, abnormal, illegal, etc.? I never called or anything because they where the same and I figured it was normal, but after reading ur post, i'm thinking twice...

Hey scotty, I think they should give you what you were prescribed and just return the unused portion, tell them you have had to use extra if you have to but they cut your dose by 2/3rds and really don't want you to go any farther with a complaint about a misfill on a C-2, These are the most poetent meds and ca kill people, what fif he gave you 15's instead of 5 and you weren't tolerant enough to take 2 15's.
My wife worked witha pharmacist that had kiled someone on a lidfill. His licenece was suspended for a year but it 's not hat uncommon.
In no way leave yourself short. THey billed your insurance for amed that cost 3 times more! If you paid cash you paid for that med that made you sick. You
really should get the full script and let them eat the 5's. It will give you breathing room.
They don't even want you to call their district manager because the misfill will go into their personel file if it's one of the big chains. My wife also had a customer that for some unknown reason She and her family got free scripts for life from Revco, It was part of some settlement, but nobody would get into the details with my wife but had gone on long before she managed that store.
I'm glad your getting it fix, that sucks you suffered to the point of being so desperate surgery starts sounding good. Because there really wasn't effective pain management less than a decade ago , Is why you hear about folks that had 8 and 12 back surgeries, because nothing else was offered. Just a crappy role of the dice by the time you go in 8 times, 3 was too many for me but I still think about a surgery that may fix me. I do worry about post op pain contrl, but at least they have stronger meds now. Seems like whether it was wisdomnm teeth or a 6 level fusion, you got percocet or percodan , I guess I'm dating myself. I doubt many of the younger folks have used percodan because of reyes syndrome and the aspirin in it.
Good luck, Dave
As far as mixing generics, they try not to do it, but if it's that's or do a partial they will mix them, they even have a special label, like the may cause drowsiness labels and other ones like, Pills may apear different in color or shape but are equal generic equivalents, or something like that. I got that sticker too at one point.
Take care

Hey scotty I just edited my post to say they should give you the complete script, you paid for it or even worse, your insurance did making it fraud.
You got a med at least 1/3 the price and experienced some nasty stuff.
Restless leg is prettty normal with withdrawal and really sucks, Good luck, Dave

Can someone please describe restless leg for me??? Is it where the leg won't quit bouncing, even if you want it to??? Sorry to be so "Ignorant" (in the good sense of the word=uneducated).
I keep hearing references and wondering if that's what's going on with my leg....It just keeps a bouncing, but that's really recent within the last few days, and it's weak, and sometimes I feel like when I'm walking it will give out on me and I have to hold on to things to walk....Never mind the pain....LOL....and sometimes I have to grab it and put it in the dang car! It's like my mind won't tell my leg what to do after sitting for a while....but that started here like two days ago....I'm rambling again...SORRY!
Thanks for the definition/explanation.
Becky

There is a forum, But it's a common side effect with opiates so It's not unusual to be part of PM> Restless leg syndrome s pretty much that feeling off needing to move your legs or them jerking at night, when experience it from withdrawal, It's a realy wierd feeling that like you legs are either heavy or light and if you reposition them it may relieve the feeling of wanting to stretch and constantly reposition them.
Restless leg incuced by opiates can have the same uncomfortable feeling at night when your trying to fall aslepp, or you may actually kick so much or your legs jerk you need that side effect managed. One of the 2 morphine metabolites actualy causes restless leg although it's not uncommon with other opiates because part of other meds are metabolized into different forms of morphine. Lke paret of Hydro is convertewd into Hydromorphone and part of oxy is converted into Oxymorphone.
There are herbal remedies available, sometimes they treat it with parkinsons meds and sometimes Klonopin. When on oral morphine my legs would jerk once I reached whatever stage of sleep and jerk so much they would tork my back and pkeep me constantluy awake, fallng asleep, jerking back awake. Intrathecal morphine hasn't caused the problem yet but the difference in dose is about 100-1 mg to mg. The last time I took oral morphine as abase dose my dose was 600mgs a day plus BT meds, with he pump I get about 8mgs per day and barely use BT meds and don't have constipation or RLS from Intrathecal morphine.
Check out the RLSforum though to see what's new as far as vitamins and herbal products. One of the precribed meds I used was a high dose of pottasium. Perhaps the same theory that Bananas help with leg cramps.
Glad it worked out Scott, Did they replace the whole script?
Take care, Dave

dave, yes they had 150 count filled and waiting for me last night. :bouncing:
they didnt even count my returned pills, atleast not while i was there, they were to busy apologizing to me.
regarding the legs
thats exactly what i felt,an incredible heavinesss, achy and restlessness in my legs.
i knew something wasnt right because last month my pain dr upped my meds to 5 a day and i was sleeping through the night without ambien.
the past weeks i was taking 20mg of ambien and sleeping for 2-3 hrs tops.
nobody should have to go through that.atleast i know what to expect when weaning off the meds.one day later im back to my old self.
feel well,scott

Hi Scotty.....
I'm glad you were able to get this issue resolved. I can't imagine what you have been going thru by not being properly medicated. We had a similar situation with a med my husband was taking awhile back. The dr. had prescribed 10mg amitriptyline (Elavil) once at bedtime. For the next few days he said he was just plain feeling weird. He couldn't even begin to explain to me the feeling he had in his head. The pills looked almost identical to an older script we had left in the medicine cabinet but the numbering imprinted on it was different. I looked it up on the computer and the pharmacy had filled it with 100mg of amitriptyline. That was 10x's the daily amount he was supposed to take. No wonder he felt 'off'. When I called the pharmacy and read the numbers to them I could 'hear' the pharmacist's voice wavering. He tried to calm down enough to ask me to come in right away with the med. When I got there he couldn't grab the pill bottle away from me fast enough. He apologized and handed me the correct dosage. I told him he was lucky that it didn't appear my husband had any long standing adverse effects to the mistake that was made. I was so tempted to do anything I could to get him in trouble, but I let it go. For a while I wondered if I did the right thing by not doing something more. How would I feel if a mistake like this was made again and someone did suffer from it or even worse DIED? But for some unknown reason the pharmacist was no longer working after a month. They told me that he had decided to retire. So that put my mind at ease that he wouldn't do this to someone else. I know mistakes happen everyday in all sorts of things, but this is inexcuseable. This scenario right here is why everyone who is filling a prescription that is not visually recognizable to them they should look it up just to be on the safe side. I do that everytime I get a script that I haven't had before or if it is a different manufacturer than the fill I rec'd the prior month. Just to be safe.
Take care......Kitt

Thank you kitt.
it was a helluva week.the worst thing being i did not know why i took such a turn for the worse.ive had flare ups before but the pain always increased gradually over days if not weeks.my pain just jumped up so bad in a day or two.
after struggling for a few days i spent the whole weekend in bed and on monday i sat down with my wife and told her id call my pain dr and give him a shot to help control my pain and then i was calling the surgeon to start the ball rolling.
i was trying to explain to my wife, who happens to be a physical therapist, that i just couldnt stand the way my legs were aching.it was different from the nerve pain that id always felt in my legs.
i called the pharmacist in the afternoon and told them id be in at night to straighten this whole thing out.when i showed up they greeted me by name and i just gave her a look and said "big mistake, you have no idea what you put me and my family through the past week"
they seemed very happy that i took the rx and left without threatening any action.
i laced into the pharmacist who i know wasnt the one who messed up, about how the other pharmacist could be so ignorant regarding a classII med because i did call the first day to question the rx as the bottles pill description did not match the pills.it should have been corrected at that time but rather than checking my rx and adressing my concern he said its a new generic that they just started carrying.what an arse.

If I go to long between taking my meds I get that restless leg feeling in my arms, especially my left one. It absolutely drives me nuts. I wouldn't even know how to explain the feeling I get from it but its not good!!
