I found out I had IBS about 3 years ago I had bouts of loose stools and constipation that lasted for months..I have been fine since then but noticed recently almost daily constipation.I feel like I have to strain to go and I have a feeling like it's still sitting there after I go and I only go in small amounts but it feels hard to push out..I also noticed mucus hanging from stools..I 've tried prunes and cheerio's and finally today tried 2 fiber pills ..Is this IBS again? also I am 29 and had a abdominal MRI done 2 months ago and was wondering if that would show any kind of colon cancer

I'm new to the Healthboard; however, i'm not new to IBS or it's symptoms. I was diagnosed with IBS in 1996, but mainly have always had the loose bowels, not much constipation, so i can't empathize with that.
I have mainly changed some of my eating habits, and have to manage my stress level with medications to controll my IBS. My father died of colon cancer 15 years ago, so i've already started having all the tests to try to catch it. My doctors have always been mainly concerned (of testing for colon cancer) IF i lose weight or see blood in my stools. I didn't know if any of this info would be helpful for you, but felt this would be the best place for me to start on the boards. Let me know what you find out from your doctor.
