I have seen a few postings about these natural "drugs". I would like to try Valerian instead of prescription drugs for sleep, as I get a lot of side effects. I would like to try magnesuim, as I have heard it helps with fatigue. AND I have heard that ginger is good as an anti-inflammatory as well as helps with nausea.
Does anyone know from experience if any of these are very helpful v. prescription drugs? Does anyone know of any side effects?

Valerian does work ok for about a month. Ginger does help nausea. I haven't tried Magnesium.

Just started on magnesium, calcium and zinc as recommended by my doctor. Anyone else ever try this combination?

Everyday I take a great mix of herbs and supplements and I love them! I have been taking them consistantly for almost a year and my symptoms have improved. There are still rough days, but not nearly as many. I used to feel weather fronts almost 10 days before they came and I never watched the weather. Now, I do not feel it til the day before. I take valerian probably every-other night to hlp me sleep and it works for me. I also take magnesium which also helps. Not a lot for me, so I take other things that help to work with it. Ginger is good for nausea and for IBS. It does help with the pain a little, but not a lot.
I am also taking zinc and calcium. I take the calcium with the herb feverfew for my migraines. These herbs and supplements have really helped me. I cannot take most Rx drugs because they do the opposite that they say they are supposed to do and i build up a tolerancy to OTC drugs and they do not work anymore!

I have had good luck with Valerian. I was not happy at all with the prescription med side effects, and my rheumy said he thought they did more damage than help and he didn't recommend them to his patients. He thought Valerian was a good choice if it helped.
