Hi Iam new to the HSV1 genetial issues. I am not sure but maybe the more experienced people can answer this issue. I used to shave in that area and since I have contacted HSV 1 in that area I am not sure if it can cause more ob's. I have noticed some rashes develop there, but I do not have the itch and tingle like I experienced w/the first ob. Does type I get milder and maybe these are ob's ?? It is just red and irritated nothing like the first ob. Does anyone have any suggestions to grooming this area that would not cause ob's.
I am nervous that I could have a cut and expose someone to the ''HSV-I or does exposure only occur during an ob ? If you cut youself there does that make it an exposure point to my partner ?? any suggestions ?

Cutting yourself down there won't threaten your partner--you are contagious only just before, during, and right after an ob, and during the occasional so-called asymptomatic shedding of the virus. But having cuts down there could allow you to reinfect yourself at another site, thus spreading your area of outbreaks, and the irritation caused by shaving could trigger more ob's.

Yes, the primary ob is the worst, so those rashes may have been herpes. Hard to tell.

The best thing to do is simply to wash with a mild soap or cleansing bar (like Neutrogena) and rinse, just the way you'd treat the rest of your body. Try to avoid all irritation.
