my best friend is 24 and has experienced unbearable stomache pain for 4 years. it takes her half an hour to go poo everyday and no doctor has been able to prescribe anything to make the pain pass or to speed up her bowl movement. she and i are at a loss and very confused about what to do. any suggestions?
thanks,

Julia,
Are you talking about upper or lower abdomenal pain???
Regardless---I think you should add a water soluble fiber supplement like Metamucil to your diet---daily along with alot of water!!! Start off slow because it causes gas until you get use to it.
Have you been tested for ulcers that is caused by H.pylori bacteria. as you probably know it can live in the mucus of your stomach and small intestines.
Prunes as well as figs are a natrual laxative but all has to be started so you eat the right amount for gentle BMs without straining.
God Bless---Harry

I have heard constipation is not enough water in your system and the OTHER means too much. Has shes tried fibre or stool softeners? I am on strong pain meds for my TMJD and they constipate me badly and my doc suggested metimucil and perscribed me a stool softener as well. Works pretty good the pain and one hour in the bathroom are gone!
