I'm pretty freaked out at this moment and am seeking information.

For the last several years, I've had intermittent blood in my stool. It was rare in occurence and not a lot of blood. It usually accompanied straining.

For the last two months, I've had many, many occurences of the blood in my stool. It hurts so bad to have a bm that I literally cry and shake every time. I feel a ripping/burning pain, and now, there is a LOT of bright red blood. There is blood on the toilet paper, in the fecal matter, and in the toilet. I've also had blood leak onto my underpants.

Over the last few months, I've also had very frequent (after every single meal) episodes of diahhrea. It's up to four and five times a day now. It's to the point that I've had to leave work twice now to change clothes during the day. It's very embarassing.

Now, I am wondering if anybody has experienced this. I do know the standard answer. . . call your doctor, and I have. I was first set up for a colonoscopy on December 16, but I had to cancel when a relapse in my multiple sclerosis made me need high dosages of steroids. Then, I was rescheduled for January 16th. That is, until yesterday, when my doctor's office called to reschedule, yet again, to January 30th.

I'm so freaked out about waiting.

Any ideas?

Oh, also, I'm female, 28, and I just had a baby in September.

It is probably caused by hemorrhoids.
I think you need to start taking a water soluble fiber like Metamucil to make your BMs gentle and regular without straining. Also, drink enough water.

I also suggest you use a hemorrhoid ointment before and after each BM.

I would certainly try to get the Exam move up if possible.

Unless you are taking asprin or a blood thinner then most docs think this is a self limiting condition and you won't lose alot of blood.

Hi
I had those symptoms for a while as well and I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Go to the doctors and they might refer you to a Gastro-Enterologist who will do a colonoscopy.

Thank you both.

I have tried to move up the appt, but no go. I just want answers as quickly as possible. Until then, I will try the metamucil!

Thanks

I think that bleeding WITH pain is more likely an anal fissure than a hemorrhoid. Your doctor will be able to see either readily without a colonoscopy, though. Maybe check into this before you have an invasive procedure...
just trying to help...good luck and feel better...
