About one hour ago I finally got my wisdom tooth out wich was causing severe pain in and around my ear area. I went under Nitrous wich was great and really took the scared right out of me. After breathing that for a while the numbed me up and began to go to work.Mine were partial bony impacted and they got it out in no time No Pain at all just some funky noises which was okay and a tiny bit of pressure. Anyway now that im done, im scared as hell of not messing up this blod clot. Is it okay to let the blood pool in my mouth rather than swallow it or gently spit it. Im not really hungry now do I have to eat to speed up healing? Does Vicodan really work
Thanks,
Mike

It is very important for the blood clot to form and stay in the socket where the tooth came out. Are you still biting on gauze? The bleeding should subside or stop within an hour or two. If you aren't still bleeding don't continue to use the gauze, it can sometimes the blood clot to stick to it and pull out the clot. Don't let your saliva pool up in your mouth, swallow as you normally would. Definitly don't spit, drink through a straw, smoke, rinse, or swish for 24 hours. Do you have stitches? Yes, Vicodin will help with the post operative pain, but should only need to take it for the first couple days, if you are still in alot of pain after a few days you may have a dry socket. This will require further treatment to calm it down. If you have any other questions let me know. I'm glad that the extraction was a good experience for you, that's the way it should be!!

Oh yeah, you shouldn't take the Vicodin on an empty stomach. Try to eat something soft. (jello, pudding, a Slim Fast, or an instant breakfast shake of some sort)
