View Full Version : OCD/caffeine dilemma

Just about every day in the afternoon I get tired at a certain time, and I experience more OCD. My mind starts getting weak and sometimes I can't do things like make decisions well, think properly, or study for too long (not good when you're a college student). One solution to this problem could be caffeine; drinking a cup of coffee or tea sometimes helps me be awake. The problem is, just like aspartame and a whole bunch of other stuff, I can't seem to get a good answer about caffeine. Is it really bad for you? How much is bad for you? How much do you have to drink to be addicted? How bad is it if you're addicted? It doesn't seem like there's easy answers to these questions.
I sort of think that I've already experienced caffeine addiction and then got over it. When I was a pre-teen I used to drink one caffeine drink every day, until recently when I stopped doing that this year. Before this year, if I stopped drinking coffee/soda, etc., I would get a headache. I'm hesitant to get "addicted" again (does that sound like addiction?), and am concerned about my health. But I CAN'T stand having these swings in OCD and fatigue. On a particularly bad day the OCD could really explode when paired with fatigue, and I don't want that to happen. I have scrupulosity, and I do NOT want to feel guilty and like I'm sinning any more than I already do!
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Travis

A new study showed you can be addicted to one cup of coffee per day which is 100 milligrams per five ounces. A 12 ounce coke has about 45 milligrams. Caffeine isnt bad for the average person up to 300 milligrams per day. But some people are very nervous and jittery dring caffeine. Some people cant sleep if they drink it. Caffeine is said to make OCD symptoms worse and if you can live without caffeine it may lessen your OCD, ja

start with a cup of regular coffee with full regular amt.. then start mixing in decaf coffee and taper down the regular coffee till you are just on decaf. Just a thought.
