I was on it for almost a month and had to quit. About the third week I started getting angry. Not at anybody or anything, just incredible waves of anger, 24/7. A gentle breeze would set me off. I asked the MD if I should fight my way through and he told me to quit immediately. From what I've read my reaction was not common. Good luck.

I've been on Keppra for just a week now and haven't noticed too big of a difference except a little moodiness. Although, that can just be from job stress. I thought it was going to make me really drowsy because that is what it said on the label but I haven't felt any more tired than usual. Good luck and tell me how you do on it!

I've been on it for almost 4 years. I recall when I first started it I got a bit grumpy, but that passed. Like most drugs it made me tired also. Prior to Keppra I had averaged 5-6 grand mals a year. I haven't had one in more than 2 yrs. & I've only had a few aura's since on it.
This year I finally got my drivers license back, which I hadn't had since 91', due to the seizers.
I won't trade my Keppra for nothing.

Hi Shane,
I also have TLE. I have been on it now for almost 6 weeks. Starting to feel pretty darn good now. Had to have my dosage adjusted upwards a couple of times but I now haven't had any form of seizure for almost 2 weeks and my moodiness (which was pretty bad at the start) is now almost gone. I am a little drowsy but nothing to complain about.

Hi Shane,
My name is Allie and I am on Keppra & Dilantin. I have been on Keppra for about 4 months, I am on 3000 mg a day. There are a lot of different side effects that can happen. I do go to the Mayo Clinic and I have a wonderful Neurologist there. Some of the side effects are depression, change of voice, a lot of emotional symptons. At first I was really really tired, although when my dosage was increased and stablized I was fine. Despite me not believing the Doctors you do adjust. I do sometimes become confused, I no longer feel "sea sick." I have lost an extreme amount of weight because of these medications. I was never over weight, although in the last month I have went from 140 to 120 pounds. Despite me eating like a horse! I have been on a total of 12 different medications to treat my epilepsy since April. I do not recommend Topamax, I would rather have 100 seizures a day then to go through that again. It was the worst feeling ever, severe depression, voices in my head, irrational thoughts. Two weeks after being taken off the medication, "my unwanted friends" were no longer with me. I had a Topamaz horror story as my doctor had stated. I do recommend drinking a lot of water with Keppra. I drink on the average of about 3 gallons of water a day. It was a lot to begin with, although I feel a lot better. If you have any specific questions please let me know. I do forget things, and tend to repeat myself a lot. How do I survive? Well I make fun of the situation.
Allie

Hey I'm new to the board, but I want ya'll to know if you're on Keppra there's hope for you all. Its been the best all the way around. I've been on it since I was 16 years old and I'm now 18 about to turn 19 January 3rd and I'm two and a half years free of seizures, but still on Keppra. I've been on every other type of anti-seizure medication you can name basically, Tegratol, Carbotrol, and Depakote are some of the basic ones. But every single one of them I had constant blead throughs of seizures, (got kicked out of school, public schools because of disruption to class because of my seizures) But finally my Dr of Children's @ Schottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta, found Keppra and heard some great things about it, and said I would be one of his frist patients to try it out, and things have been great, but I do take a booster which is Topamax, which basically just boost the effects of Keppra to its peeks. I take 1500mg twice a day of keppra and 25mg of Topamax once a day. But Seizure free for 2 and half years, God surely blessed me  and I promise all of you, keep your heads up and you'll get through these trials in life. God Bless you all.

Hey Shane,
Hope you had a lovely Christmas. I think the Keppra is going okay. They actually reduced my dosage a couple of weeks ago (now on 1500g / day) because I was getting really anxious and that can be a side effect. Seems to be fine now and the reduced dosage doesn't seem to be a problem (only had one simple partial seizure about a week and a half ago). Shame they can't test your blood levels with this one - its just a guessing game... I can honestly say that I am leading a fairly normal life at the moment - yiipppeee!!! As long as I get enough sleep at night, my days are great.
Just out of interest, why do you only take your meds once a day? I take half in the am and half in the pm. I think if I took all of mine in the morning I would be completely out of it...

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Shane - in my mind, the less medication the better... I am only on Keppra. I am reasonably difficult to medicate because I am looking at having babies asap and the meds that the docs are most comfortable with are Lamictal and Keppra. Have tried Lamictal and got really sick (have you any had any dramas with it?). Had the flu for weeks, ended up with pleurisy (who gets that!?) and my glands swelled really badly. So heres hoping the Keppra continues to do its job.

my baby is 19 months old an was just put on keppra. I am concerned because she went from a happy little baby to mean an i swear i see fire in her eyes. i am just wondering if this is hurting her? She started having seizures about 1 month ago we couldnt get her into a neuro until sept. but her ped told us to take her to the er, naturally we did that ya know nervious parents wanting to know what is going on. they did a ct scan an that showed nothing witch was a sigh of relief because we are thinking that this all started from a fall. but then the er dr put her on keppra an i am just not sure if it is working right. she had a seizure last night an it was worse than all the other ones. she goes to the neuro on monday but i am just stressed to no end with this. If anyone is out there that can atleast give me some advice on baby seizures it would be great!! thank you for listening to me.
