I was just recently diagnosed with mono. The doctor said the only thing I could do was treat the symptoms themselves (ie, to skirt a headache, take tylenol, et al.) The problem is, though, every throat lozenge I've taken has had little to no affect on my throat. Are there any suggestions? Anything other than cough drops, or what have you?

My 2 year old got mono over the summer. I cant recommend a throat drop, but I can tell you: the doc said the best way to get her on her feet faster was with vitamins, extra extra doses of vitamin C, and echinacea. It also helped to get her to eat (he gave her meds for that). He said that until she ate more, and got enough rest, she would be sick. He was pretty much right. I let her sleep whenever she wanted, and made sure she ate. Try the vitamins, rest as much as you can, and force yourself to eat. If your appetite is low, eat foods that count (meat, eggs, dairy fruit and veggies as opposed to processed foods and junk) and TAKE IT EASY! YOu wont get better quickly until your body can rest.

Thanks a lot! I'll get on it and let you know if it helps!

Just wanted to let everyone know... Taking a daily multi-vitamin, a vitamin c pill, and some echinacea sped up the recovery process exponentially! I was on my feet in no time. Great advice, and thanks again!

Glad to have helped. With my daughter, I would have done anything to get her better, as she hadnt slept well for months, and I was exhausted!
