Just curious if any of you have advice for someone (me!) who is about to embark on a long car trip (takes two long days to get there). My neck, shoulders, chest are already really hurting...and sitting in the car that long probably won't help. Also, I do NOT sleep well in motels/hotels...but can't really think of any other type of place to sleep that might be quieter, more private, etc. I wish we could fly, but that is so expensive, but we'd be there so much quicker. I am also travelling with a two year old, so this should be quite an experience! Thanks for any tips for making it easier and less painful!

Rorie,

I don't know if you use ice or heat at all -- but you can get at any drug store these portable, instant hot or cold packs. I used the ice when I was flying from Ottawa to Vancouver in August and it helped a great deal. Stop and move around as often as possible, even if it's only for a few minutes. Andy is right about the pillows, they help a great deal.

Best of Luck to you.

have a safe trip.... you can get a instant heating pad.. to put on the back of your neck.. also a small footstool helps to put your feet up,.... a neck pillow againt your neck will help , esp. with the heat...

make a few stops and when you get out of the do it soooo slowly,,, takes ya 5 mins just got stand straight, then strech your arms and legs and walk a bit,,, get ready for the next miles ahead...

i travel over 8 hours,,, in one trip... this helped me :)

I'm going on a long car trip next week too. I found this massage/heating pad that molds to your body at Longs Drug store. It's like a pillow but I thought it was really neat that both masage and heating pad come all in one! Sami
